hi my brothers got a ps3 phat thats on 3.55 and hes reluctant to let me install geohots 3.55 custom firmware because he plays call of duty black ops online if i install geohots custom 3.55 and then use this to install some of my games will he still be able to play cod online from his original disc without been banned thanks.

I'd say your brother is well within his right to have a say on what firmware is installed on his PS3.

Truthfully, until the EBOOT.BIN files are fully dissected, and someone figures out how to 100% reliably make PKG's for ALL games (or a fully functional backup manager) you should probably avoid upgrading to CFW at this point. Hopefully by the time the above is done, Sony will have had played whatever hand their holding tight to their chests with regards to PSN bans or lack thereof.

Of course if your interested in the homebrew aspects of the CFW, you might want to consider buying your own PS3 and hack around with it.

Tried with BLUS30457 Tron.Evolution.USA.JB.PS3-dumpTruck. booted to game update screen then froze. and Yes i placed the USRDIR in the folder Ps3_0457 (after changing "folder to that)

Although this time it beeps at me when it freezes at the update menu(like the others did)

P.S also tried Tron_Evolution_EUR_JB_PS3-CLANDESTiNE (Bles-00761) same effect

Im pretty sure you put the usrdir in the folder the pkg made.

Well i tried that to and the game Infamous still failed. I'm using cfw 3.55jb. This game is supposed to work which is even more frustrating. The pkg creation went fine so what am i doing wrong ??? Maybe i wasn't supposed to change the name of the folder in the program but he did say change folder name. Can anyone clear that part up for me what folder name exactly do you change ?? Plus the location of said folder would help too.

Thank you so much! I've been having ZERO luck in creating my own eboots in BD2HDD, well I mean they WORK, they just all leave me with a black screen. Unless EVERY game I own just isn't compatible. On to the testing!

Well the program doesn't work for me, as much as I love windows 7, it seems to be more of a curse than a blessing when it comes to things like this. Anyone let me know if they can actually create a package without the program crashing.

Woo! Got it, just in case the program is crashing for anyone else, here's the fix, Go to My Computer, right click, Properties->Advance System Setings->environment variables
and add "HOME" "< program dir/dependence >" under system variables (on win7)

good luck getting help... I have searched everywhere and asked it seems like everyone on the net... no one knows what the problem is... just seems as if some games work and some games don't... weird I know, but I get it on MOST of the ones I run through any problem such as this... if I hear of anything then I will be reporting back to here since I'm trying tons of stuff...

Thus far this is what I've found:

1: blu-ray rips seem to work MORE SO THAN NOT...
2: PSN Digital downloads such as Joe Danger, Trine, Fat Princess, etc... can't get a single one of those to work for some reason...
3: PSP Mini's... tried, but due to the internal directory structure being different I guess it would have to be different coding of a GUI to make it work...

that's about it for me for now... any word from ANYONE would be appreciated...

is fixed. You have to move the input folder to somewhere other then the C or your main Harddrive. Itried all my games on my pc and i get that, but when i tried them on my EXT. hdd it worked!

Is there a compatibility list for using this method cause I'm tempted to update from 3.41 cause this method is easier to use. However if I can't play most of the games it isn't worth it.

all those having errors right click on the prog. and run as admin should help. got the error a few times then it went away

Guys, I found out why it crashes. There is not allow to be any special characters. Only text and numbers! Like I had a space like "PS3 Games" changed it to "PS3Games" and now it works.

for some odd reason about 50% of the ones I couldn't get to work before now works... it's all due to putting them on my thumbdrive first and then running the process... WEIRD!!! Still having problems w/ some of them, but can't win them all... THANKS!!!

Anyone getting errors, I've been playing around for hours, and it seems like by having everything in the root ( C:\ ) it took care of everything.
