It seems, Sony has finally decided to fight back and its the only way they know how...legally! Today, they have filed lawsuits against George Hotz (geohot) and members of fail0verflow! Geohot has updated his site with several court documents which were issued to him today by Sony's legal goons. He has also removed any and all PS3 hacking tools and keys. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out! Stay tuned for more updates.

Update: This isn't technically a lawsuit against geohot and company. It is actually a legal restraining order. Which, if approved, would force geohot and fail0verflow to hand over their PC's and related equipment, as well as force them to cease distributing tools and keys.

Sony has finally decided to play their poker hand today!

Their MIB (lawyers in black suits) have landed, and the target is of course Mr. George Hotz aka "geohot"!

Recently "Geohot" had published the PS3 'root key' on his website, along with various 'signing tools' and samples of possible ways to install and run 'homebrew'

It seems Sony has decided they have had enough of this, and as of Jan. 11, 2011 have filed a lawsuit against Mr. George Hotz, which will be filed under the court docket of 'C 11-00167 JCS'!

UPDATE: My Wikileaks Fax machine just finished dumping the finished E-filings for today by Sony, with the official Court Stamp and Signings, and included now is what SCEA wants to claim in damages and their reasons, and dates of when the info was released by Team Fail0verflow and Geohot and various other info like sharing of work via twitter, posting youtube videos, etc.

People...dont get scared by those assholes from sony...they wont, and they cant do shit...if you are afraid unplug ps from the internet period...dont turn your face to the fight just because the other side show's you some tricks...because those who live by the fist, die by those who live by the gun...

haha i just love all these people that are saying **** jailbreaking and geohot and if u jb ur ps3 ur console will get bricked or banned. I mean come on if u are against hacking why are u even on this site and if ur like the kid who made an account to post 1 comment then you have no life or ur just some little 9 year old trying to release ur anger becuz u got beat by ur dad. Get the **** off if ur against it.

Having considered all the papers and arguments, the Court finds that SCEA has
shown a likelihood of success on the merits of its claims for violation of the DMCA and
CFAA, and that it will suffer irreparable harm unless Defendant Hotz’s violations are
enjoined.

Hence the..

"that it will suffer irreparable harm"

I guess Sony cannot fix this one..

Well that's what we're all hoping. I wouldn't mind running some games on PSN again. I'm waiting it out a bit, but don't know for how long cuz all the homebrew is now for fw 3.55. The hackers are going to win this case, it's just like with the iPhone this is just to scare us off.(which they're doing well cuz i'm waiting out updating to 3.55 still XD)

Yeah I switched my console back to Retail firmware. I don't know, this method is not very effective, it only works 1/20 games.. I'm waiting for a backup manager so I can just backup all my disks. I have over 45 titles.. I don't want to pirate just backup from my kids cause my daughters are 3 and 5 and they always try to touch the disks.
