Geohot Releases 3.55 PS3 Custom Firmware + Signing Tools - 3.55 Homebrew Arrives

Progress continues to be made, on the custom firmware front. This time coming from Geohot, he has released his custom firmware which was showcased in the video yesterday.The firmware works with his tools make_self_npdrm and package_finalize. These tools are now currently released, and finally allow us to truly run our own homebrew on 3.55. Please note, Geo's custom firmware must be installed from 3.55 official firmware. More news coming soon.

Some of you may be asking: Isn't this the same as KaKaRoTo's CFW?

The answer to that is: No! This CFW has more going on behind the scenes with it. It will allow you to install your OWN retail PKG's, with Geohot's tools below. Which means you can convert current homebrew/emulators to GeoHot's 3.55 CFW

New tools are coming to sign homebrew to work with new CFW.

it does not contain any info on decrypting or removing NPDRM
NPDRM is required for interoperability of our homebrew applications
package_finalize turns your debug packages into psuedoretail packages
psuedoretail packages install on a geohot jailbroken PS3

dont unplug the usb from the ps3 when it starts beeping .... youll brick it .. probably that might just be an effect to the CFW.. and no theres no need to jailbreak the ps3 before installing this .but it just makes no sences to release a CFW and not be able to use it the way its supose to be used .. well waiting for the tools . he said soon so it might just be tomorrow or next month lol ...

yea most of the file is 00 and 0A this is not CFW its just a patch of the OFW if it works at all.
which is why must be installed on 3.55 not any other.

I tried to install it. I was using KaKaRoTo's MFW. Now I'm downloading the official 3.55. After I'll try again...

go back to reg firmware..go on next gen update to get link to new firmware then re-install jb-firmware

The PS3 games and installing packages is gone. Now I'm official again xD

Agreeded, I'm not installing it, until I see Linux/FreeBSD available as a signed, hashed and encrypted pkg. I don't mind waiting I'm still on 3.15.
