very cool. i always thought people found the debug firmwares pretty quickly after they were released though.

anywho, i love progress and as a cheerful dude and optimist towards the ps3 scene, everything is progress to me :P

i just hope TB goes away or gets abolished soon. those niggards who developed it are probably the same ones who take free translations, apply them, then sell them in china to unknowing consumers thinking they're getting an import or something official

The only thing that we will have to do is get past the limitation of only being able to put one game per hard drive for dex units. I was lucky enough to get my hand on a 60gb test/debug unit and have done this with older games but it was alot easier.
Hopefully this will crush or make the e3 team and TB team think twice about all these new dongles.

This is the best news I have heard in 2 years, sit back everybody and wait... these dongles are about to die off like psjailbreak.

These dev's have been holding out on the big picture for a long time, its available... you might have got the hint with PSN coming back recently. The fact is they would rather keep it for themselves so it is not patched, or profit from it. However there is still real die hard developer/hackers out there that will share the wealth... either way this is great news.

BTW I just want to thank PSX-SCENE for being one of the best scene sites out there, I really appreciate everything your doing.

I'm not sure if this is a recent leak.? I havent been following the dex stuff much here the past week..

But here is 4.20 Dex

If your on a DEX wouldn't it be easy to update to current ver. already?

I seen this on Hax and thought it was odd, now here.. What am i missing?

cant understand all the fuss about this its only a official Dex firmware (unless its a modded firmware) as STLcardsWS says 4.20 was released beginning of the month

Edit: i also don't think this will not kill off the dongle unless something amazing is going to happen like running backups from the hdd not just one game per hdd (doubt that will happen) even if it dose it will be patched again, you have the option of plug and play with minimal amount of bricking with a dongle, then you got cex to dex with higher risk of bricking, im not an expert on the dex console but from what i have been reading there is not point in this unless your a dev.

If I remember correctly, didn't PS Jailbreak trick the system into thinking it was a test/debug unit, and it was capable of playing more than one backup per HDD.

This is a step in the right direction, possibly towards proper CFW!

AFAIK u can run 4 games in their own partitions which is still low but if 3.6+ PS3 exclusives like Resistance 3 worx this way mayb i ll give it a go & put my 2nd 2.5" HDD in

anyway they r using some kind of BD-IMAGE emulator of DEX this way but what about using BD-R/E which game developers normally use on their debug units on 1 partition?

4.2 was released a while back, but 4.11 never was before now. There's not really much point, since 4.2 is already available, but it never hurts to have it.

This is not front page news, the firmware has been on the dev wiki since the 16-Jun-2012 19:22.... What is more news is how they posted the 4.20 DEX FW but then removed it once the CEX2DEX method was made simple...

dont belive me? try downloading it.
then try looking in the download section under OFW\DEX. the highest DEX is this leaked 4.11.
next time you post a link check it works and research your facts

4.20 is not needed yet to play any new games its just a psn patch.

yes, but the checksum info is up for the file. That didn't come out of thin air. Somebody has to have it. I'd like to get a copy as soon as I can
