  • Deank Releases Test Payload For multiMAN v04.19.07

PlayStation 3 developer Deank dropped by with some news via our forums in the last two days. Regarding a new payload for multiMAN. He announced this new payload which is very small in size, does not use syscalls or overwrites memory and more. A day after you might have noticed, in the same thread, he released a test version of his new payload for multiMAN 04.19.07. Supports CFW 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX, 4.31 CEX as per the quote below.

    About multiMAN payload by Deank:

    I coded my own payload:
    • It doesn't use any syscalls
    • It is just 252 bytes (over 5-6 times smaller than other payloads)
    • It doesn't overwrite any code in LV2 memory
    • It doesn't allocate kernel memory
    • It supports multiple path/files redirections
    • It is memory-position independent and easy to use on all firmwares
    • ... and is 252 bytes

    • Supports only 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX, 4.31 CEX
    • BD-ROM Emulator option in Settings can be set to "Enable / Disable" - no more "Hermes"/"Standard"
    • This payload overwrites 252 bytes of strings in LV2 memory (and not 4000 bytes of code like other payloads), it doesn't use syscalls and doesn't rely on firmware functions, executes fast and improves performance
    • Compatibility-wise it is better than "Standard" and slightly better than "Hermes".

Let me know if you run into something weird.

nothing him, you'll probably get support within a few releases once he knows how everything is working out with his own payload.

Issues from multiMAN 04.18.00 - 04.19.07 (display mode slide cover flow) free spaces USB hard disk (USB#1 or USB#2) size detected no precision, computer properties displays 2.28GB and multiMAN 41.33GB. Thanks, DeanK is the best.

Yes, please use this new version if you're testing stuff...

multiMAN ver 04.19.07 UPD CEX TEST (20130218).pkg

This is another test version with the new payload.

      * Added option in settings "Redirect /app_home":
--- Disable (/app_home will not be mounted at all)
--- Enable (/app_home as used in previous versions - points to the game - for disc-less)
--- Toolbox (on Rogero firmwares with pre-installed toolbox if you play from discs only - it allows you to return to stealthMAN without restart)

      * IMPROVED DISC-LESS COMPATIBILITY:

The new payload allows for some tweaks and there is 80% chance that games that didn't work disc-less will now work. It is somewhat based on the DEX LAN /app_home mounting from remote PC compatibility list, which you can find here:

      Omnomnom's Tasty A-Z of mmDM Game-Running Tutorials

If you want real improvements please post back with FEEDBACK.

For example "Alice: Madness Returns" and "Army of Two: The 40th Day" now work disc-less.

Thanks to GotIt4Free for all the tests.

Thank you again deank, you are a scene legend! Once I get my 60gb downgraded and jailbroken again (old board died, replacement motherboard was already updated to 4.11 by previous owner) I'll test it out and report back

Hey Deank are you going to make a version of Multiman I can play my PS1 games on with DEX or is it possible? My Bluray disc drive is broken so I wound up using my external USB drive as my Bluray Drive when i switched to Dex/Rex/Cex Rebug 4.21 several months ago.

Yes, this latest 04.17.07 with the new payload will work on DEX for PS1/PS3 games. I'll upload the [DEX] version later... I was hoping for more tests with the [CEX] version, but it seems everything is okay and a lot of games now work discless, too.
