Get ready to grab a Cobra-USB, and enjoy the fine craftsmanship of 3.55 NFW v3 Cobra USB by bitsbubba. This Newbie Friendly Ware introduces things like Disabled Cinavia Protection and The Homebrew Channel , as well as Package Manager via Codename: Rebug's official permission, to the currently "supplied by team Cobra" CFW. The 'Official' Cobra-USB dongle is currently required for use with this NFW.

Instructions aka 1-2-3 NFW (bitsbubba's Newbie Friendly Ware):
1. Format USB device FAT32
2. Place PS3UPDAT.PUP in x:/PS3/UPDATE
3. Install via XMB
NOTE: If you are not on OFW 3.55, please download and install that first, the same way you would install NFW. You can find OFW 3.55 here.

Clean unwanted icons from the XMB Videos Category
  Remove "Netflix" icon from the XMB Videos Category

with the next version I have plans to change the theme and coldboot sound, but I see no reason to add Start Game/app_home

One of the features of Cobra is discless compatibility , but i haven't found a way to launch them discless . There is no app_home/ps3_game or Launch Game Discless in v3
So..how would i launch a game if my bluray is broken or i just don't have a trigger disc ? Direct launch is possible from their manager but that lowers compatibility , it's not the same as mounting the game and launching from XMB .

Go into Cobra USB Manager and mount the game, when it returns to XMB the BD icon appears (disc or no disc, doesn't matter) start it from there. Hint after doing this you can also start game using mm from BD icon (also BD Mirror works in 3.41 OFW w/o a dongle (no payload) just not 3.55 (might be a patch not added by cobra))

Edit: using BD icon to start games with Cobra USB is where the full disc-less support comes in not app_home (it actually states in the Cobra USB manual that app_home is no longer needed for disc-less)

Actually the BD-Mirror option in multiMAN requires only peek/poke support (not sc-36). In CobraFW peek/poke syscalls are changed (multiMAN expects them to be 6 and 7). If you can provide infomation where these syscalls are moved - I can add it to multiMAN.

I was testing some DVD movies and although they were region free they did not play .
I thought the firmware could be causing it so i installed the official 3.55 over Bitsbubba v3 Cobra through XMB .
I did not format the HDD so there were some homebrews left there , Multiman ( without BDEMU) , Blackbox FTP and the 3.70 Spoofer
Since this is OFW 3.55 there is no Install Package Files option but to my surprise launching the programs succeded !
I can launch FTP Server , i installed and uninstalled the spoofer , i can launch Multiman , i played some movies using Showtime inside Multiman...like its a CFW but i remind you this is OFW 3.55 .

How is that possible ? Was the software update incomplete ? Are there still CFW files left in there that is allowing homebrew to work ? Could it work on 3.70 aswell ?
I plugged the Cobra but the led stays on blue and it doesn't do anything .

did you try to watch the movies right after mounting a game could have been the cause,about the homebrew it's been like that since the begining (well almost)

Nothing wrong with it. Those homebrew apps are signed, so 3.55 OFW will run them fine. However you can't install packages in OFW, or use features that require peek/poke.

@bitsbubba: Can you please test the latest multiMAN update and check if it properly finds the ISO images for PSX/PS2/PS3 games and DVD/Blu-ray videos?

The update is available online via multiMAN update or you can use this link.

You should be able to see the ISO files as DISC icons like in these screenshots:

Ok PS1/PS2 games showing up now I'll make some ISOs of the others

Edit: Also PS3 ISOs are showing up, having a little trouble dumping DVD/Blu-Ray movies, might have to go a different route with those, I'll get back when I figure it out (I think Cobra uses syscall 8/9 for peek & poke)

thanks, i really hope your nfw v3 with cobra does me some good. in the normal cobra fw i was seeing two of each package file i had in the root of my usb. talk about a freakin headache. i could live with the rest of its issues. as far as i can tell this doesnt spoof a new version, i couldnt find much on qa flagging other than technical stuff, so im gonna skip that. and i stored the reactpsn thing but it doesnt really interest me so itll just have to chill for now

Cobra has that problem in USB001 (port closest to BD-Drive) try switching ports or better yet put them in a folder named "packages" (without the quotes) and use Package Manager's package folder option. Best way to QA flag would be REBUG's QA Toggle app (man I love them guys, lol) then after the app does it's thing go to the 'Settings' scroll all the way down to the bottom and press L1+L2+L3+R1+R2+down (D-pad) and your 'Debug' options will show up
