Get ready to grab a Cobra-USB, and enjoy the fine craftsmanship of 3.55 NFW v3 Cobra USB by bitsbubba. This Newbie Friendly Ware introduces things like Disabled Cinavia Protection and The Homebrew Channel , as well as Package Manager via Codename: Rebug's official permission, to the currently "supplied by team Cobra" CFW. The 'Official' Cobra-USB dongle is currently required for use with this NFW.

Instructions aka 1-2-3 NFW (bitsbubba's Newbie Friendly Ware):
1. Format USB device FAT32
2. Place PS3UPDAT.PUP in x:/PS3/UPDATE
3. Install via XMB
NOTE: If you are not on OFW 3.55, please download and install that first, the same way you would install NFW. You can find OFW 3.55 here.

Added Package Manager to "The Homebrew Channel" (thanks to Team REBUG [Cyberskunk and Evilsperm])

Clean unwanted icons from the XMB Videos Category
  Remove "Netflix" icon from the XMB Videos Category

Clean unwanted icons from the XMB Games Category
  Remove "Minis Manual" icon from the XMB Game Category
  Removed "PlayStation Store" icon from the XMB Game Category

Clean unwanted icons from the CobraUSB Game Category

hello, what's the point of this CFW because it provides nothing more than the others since it is necessary COBRA USB key?

The point is "It's my Playstation 3, I'll do what I want with it". This was mostly created for me (I just thought I'd share). It has Cinavia disabled, unused icons taken away, the ability to install pkg's with or without the dongle, Codename: REBUG's Package Manager incorporated into "the Homebrew Channel" category and I also removed "app_home/PS3_GAME" because Cobra Manager no longer uses it for disc-less support. Not to mention a custom theme and coldboot/boot sound

Are you going to try use Cobra discless support in your no cobra NFW? Is it even possible to see this without dongle, or you dont have tried? I like this FW but much people wait for cobra-like discless support in free firmware.

I'm not that skilled, not yet! J DH CFW I'm aware of that but it's gonna be 3.41, they think it's the best FW (what...ever I like 3.55) that's why I bought the dongle and styled a CFW/MFW to my liking (and in turn am sharing it with you, the users)

Keep you in good work. Im c++ programmer and i would like help you implement cobra payload in 3.55 but i dont know anything about writing for the PS3.

The problem here is that the Cobra CFW is REALLY weird, they did some quite shady shit into it. Someone at gitbrew said, if you patch Cobra CFW, don't be surprised if it doesn't boot

Hey bitsbubba, as a fellow Cobra USB owner I just wanted to say this is awesome. Looking forward to trying it out on my PS3 tonight. Though i can understand the Cobra hate and the desire for a free CFW that has PS1 and PS2 iso support, $50 to have that functionality on my launch PS3 has been well worth it. Cobra with package manager is awesome in itself, all the other stuff you added is cool too.

Just wanted to say thanks, until there are CFWs that do Cobras unique features this is exactly what we need!

Guys i just ****ed up! i know this is stupid but is there a way to
downgrade 3.56 OFW? the disc i'm using came with it and i was
trying to install ps3ultimate CFW... please help if there is no way
to downgrade might as well upgrade to 3.70...

Yeah you'll have to upgrade to 3.70 and hope a user-friendly downgrade surfaces.

There is a downgrade which requires soldering at the moment.
Just don't upgrade past 3.70 any time soon.

Has this been confirmed working with the cobra USB? When someone made "a kmeaw like" cfw word around the campfire was that it didn't boot properly with the cobra USB in so I stayed away from it. This looks nice, I just wanna make sure it works before I flash it to my ps3

I tested this last night before releasing it for bitsbubba, and I can confirm...

Yes, it worked for me on my CHECK NOR model multiMAN even worked with the dongle. Without the dongle, all the other homebrew can be ran, like Showtime and Emulators.

not without as I did no lv1, lv2 patches to ensure that it still worked with CobraUSB
