  • multiMAN 04.17.04 Released by Deank

    Deank is back again spreading his holiday joy with another update bringing multiMAN to version 04.17.04. In this update there are improvements related to copying/scanning/verifying/ect, Visual Improvements and the addition of SD/MS/CF entries in Retro Column.

    Deank also made a BARE multiMAN. This is a skinned down (BARE) version of multiMAN you can view the complete changelog below for full details regarding this update and multiMAN BARE.

    multiMAN 04.17.04 update is available online (cex/dex/stealth)

    multiMAN ver 04.17.04 UPD CEX (20121226).pkg (1.76MB)
    Download multiMAN ver 04.17.04 UPD CEX (20121226).pkg

    * Visual improvements
    * Added SD/MS/CF entries in Retro
    * Fade-in for game backgrounds
    * Some other improvements related to copying/scanning/verifying/etc
    * multiMAN "minimal"/"bare" version available (read below)

    =======================================

    Few weeks ago some people requested a 'minimalistic' version of multiMAN. For them I created this package:

    multiMAN ver 04.17.04 BARE CEX (20121226) (only 3.8MB)
    Download multiMAN ver 04.17.04 BARE CEX (20121226).pkg

    This is a skinned down version (BARE). It can be installed on any PS3 without the need of a previous mM installation. It is like a "base" but the differences are:

    * Simple theme (2MB) (no theme music)
    * No GUI translations (English only)
    * No user fonts (only system fonts will be used)
    * No PS1/PS2/PSP names/IDs database (no game names will be displayed)
    * AIOMOD not included (old BD-Mirror method for USB games will be used on 4.21+CFWs)

    Do not use it unless you're the one who asked for it. BARE can be installed on any firmware for normal users who don't really need any of the listed above features. Of course NONE of these features are present in other BUMs so everyone should be happy. It can be installed on top of your current mM if you wish to test it (you will not notice much difference, because you already have the fonts/translations/aiomod/themes installed).

    This bare version is suitable for:

    * English speaking users
    * All 3.41/3.55 (non Cobra/TB) firmwares
    * All 4.21+ firmwares (disc may be required when booting bd-mirror USB games if AIOMOD.BIN is not present)
    * Weeners who complain all the time that 130MB is too much for a stupid PS3 homebrew like mM

      If it's a NTFS device, try to activate the driver in the menu.

      I have two partitions on my external HDD: One FAT32 formatted containing backup games (no files are 4GB+ so no problems) and one NTFS formatted for "other stuff"

      I echo theme music can be turned off in settings.

      But this bare version will help for those that are quite noobs to it, and may appreciate a simple GUI without the bells and whistles. Good job there deank! You are the only person in the scene that does things to please just about anyone.

      Another hit Deank. And gtamark, make sure there are no PS3 game folders on the root of ur hdd and that there all placed in the gamez folder. It can stop multiman reading the folder.

      did you try just formatting the ext hdd and checking if it shows up on your ps3? either xmb and/or mM's mMOS(usb00/1)

      yes...but my ps3 doesn't recognise hdd in both NTFS and FAT32 formats.....but that's strange: if I put a FAT32 pendrive ps3 recognise that (as usb_xxxxx)....instead if I put a FAT32 hdd it isn't showed....why that?????

      Is the HDD drive spinning ? Maybe the PS3 USB isn't providing enough juice ?

      Can you power the HDD externally ?

      hmm curious. i'm guessing it works well on your pc, can you grab a different ext. hdd and test if mM sees that?

      on a side note: i just transferred a game to my ps3 and noticed that mM created an extra file worth like 20kb or so, any ideas what this is and/or if this is normal?

      edit:i've noticed the above happen on a different game a few days ago and just shrugged it off but now it's driving me crazy

      Here are some screenshots from the "WEB" column of mM for the next update.

      It was only used for downloading themes, but now I extended its functions a bit. Here is how it looks:

      When you click an entry, mM will download the package in /dev_hdd0/PKG so you can install it later.

      If the admin of brewology is ok with this I'll release it in the next update.

      There's a chance that your problem lies in its slow spinup if you just turned it on or it was in a sleep mode and tried to "spin up" when it "got a hello" from your PS3 (think of it as the equivalent of... "lagging" in an FPS). You can try a different enclosure ("box" for it), but if you don't have any lying around, try this: with your HDD connected and powered on, turn on your PS3. Enter the XMB and then turn it off by using "the software option" (not the button on the console): keep pressed the "PS" button on your joypad and select "turn of console" from the menu that appears. IMMEDIATELY after turning it off, turn it on again, by using the same "PS" button. Enter the XMB. Check under Photos or Videos if your disc is there. If not, repeat 2-3 more times. If it doesn't show after all those tries, it may be a strange incompatibility between the controller and the PS3, but I ain't seen such a problem up to now, with at least 7 different enclosures and discs.

      I _have_ to do the above steps, though, with a 2,5'' enclosure, powered by the PS3 itself, so... It doesn't hurt trying.

      I suggested this to you back in February when they added the section for multiMAN themes

      Yep

      But the problem was that mM couldn't download files with unknown size (content-length). That was the reason it can't download stuff from some websites. Now I found out what's causing it and all is ok

      Anyone know what's up with the ftp in multiman? It's always dropping connection/ not fully transferring files and I have good Internet @25 mbs. I've never had a problem with blackbox but if I can I'd like to just use multiman.

      You can try to set the FTP Server in mM (in SETTINGS) to "No Timeout".

      You can't play from the NTFS drive. You must copy the game/folder to your internal drive.
