Rogero Releases CEX 4.30 v2.03 Custom Firmware - Restores Install PKG Files Function

Rogero returns with another update to his 4.30 custom firmware for CEX consoles. If you thought that his firmware took a bad turn when the Install Package Files functionality was removed, then you might want to take that back. With this update, Rogero has reimplemented the function which works better than the original. Not only that, Rogero has squashed the bugs that were present in previous releases of his custom firmware

Rogero CEX 4.30 CFW v2.03 Changelog:

Rebuilt from scratch using OFW4.30 files only (no DEX/SEX files) with official XMB and full features working as in OFW4.30
All known problems like XMB icons sorting and Demo Mode issues from previous versions are now gone with the use of the official XMB.
New Improved "Install Package Files" Application added to XMB instead of using the traditional DEX Icon, to have a 100% original XMB.
- [* Install Package Files] function supports:
  - up to 256 pkg files
  - split pkg files
  - sorting
  - queued PKG indication (in red)
  - multipart (split) PKG indication (in yellow)
  - copy/transfer progress
  - Scanned locations: /dev_usb*** /dev_hdd0 /dev_bdvd in /PKG /packages and root folders
  - Split files format: .0 - .63 / .66600 - .66663 / .001 - .064
- CFW Structure fixed to match the OFW 4.xx Structure:
  - No more corrupted data error messages while Installing from XMB or Recovery Menu.
  - The CFW can be installed fine from XMB Update over any OFW3.55/CFW3.55/CFW4.21/CFW4.30.
  - HDD can be swapped/changed and the CFW4.30 v2.03 will re-install without any problem.
Patched LV1 to disable LV2 Protection.
Patched LV1 to add peek/poke support to replace hvc 182/183 (multiMAN Direct Disc Access is now working fine with CFW4.30 v2.03)
Patched LV1 to disable SYSTEM MANAGER INTEGRITY CHECK (to prevent Bricking on non-dehashed downgraded consoles)
Patched LV1 Core OS Hash Check (to prevent Bricking on non-dehashed downgraded consoles)
The CFW can be used directly for Downgrading with Hardware flashers /Flashing from FSM/Exiting from FSM, all works fine.
Patched LV2 to add peek/poke support. (for both LV1 and LV2)
Patched VSH to enable ReActPSN compatibility (Allow Unsigned act.dat and *.rif files, Disable Unlinking/Deleting of act.dat)
Spoofed the system version to latest OFW version 4.31.
PSN/SEN access is available as long as the current "passphrase" still the same.
Loading games from App_home Icon is now fixed.
It can run games signed with Keys up to version 4.30 without any Eboot/Sprx patching needed
Games can be loaded from Disc Icon (with Original game in BD) and from app_home (Disc-less, but not all games).
Current 3.55 homebrew applications can't be loaded on this CFW, applications must be re-signed properly for FW4.21/4.30

As always, here are some guidelines from Rogero that you should follow when updating to a new firmware:

Always make a NOR/Nand dump using multiMAN before installing any CFW to have a recovery backup in case of any bricks.
Having a valid NOR/Nand dump is an essential step before upgrading, because you will always have a chance to recover when you have a valid dump.
- A Hardware Flasher alone without a valid dump may not fix your bricked PS3 **
The QA flag is better to be always Enabled on your PS3 for safer upgrading/downgrading operations. Link ----> toggle_qa.pkg
Please Check the MD5 of the downloaded PUP file before installing any CFW to avoid possible bricks.
DO NOT HAVE DISC IN PS3 WHEN UPDATING FIRMWARES..As the PS3 will take the UPDATE from the DISC First.You need to be already on a 3.55OFW or 3.55CFW/4.21CFW/4.30CFW to install this. Installing from any OFW > 3.55 won't work. (Hardware Flasher needed)

In Addition, this release has been tested and can be installed from the XMB if that is your preferred method of updating.

HI just wanna ask i Have the Official PS3 7.1 wireless stereo headset and its not working on 3.55 CFW it needs 3.70 and later version. So what i did i upgraded to this Rogero 4.30 CFW and still theres is still no option in the accessory settings for the wireless headset..pls if somebody can help me here I really gonna appreciate the help..thank you vey much

Hi guys!
Today i updated my ps3 to 4.30 rogero v2.03 CFW but i want to ask something.
i followed everything right before i update my console, i did a NAND backup i enabled QA Flag (i did the combo to be sure that works) but here is the problem.
i went from 3.55CFW to 3.55OFW (checked again tha QA is working) and then i got confused and deleted the QA flag APP... i upgrated to 4.30CFW and everything work fine except that debug setting doesnt show up anymore when i use the key-combo. now the question is the QA flag still enabled? if i want to go back to 3.55 someday will be possible? or i have to w8 to make qa flag install on 4.30CFW someday?

EDIT: PS: i know that i can downgrade with a hardware flasher but i ask for a solution without a flasher (if i had messed up anything couse i am not sure)

wow thanks very much. i've been watching your updates for this feature and was holding off on updating to 4.21/4.30 til i get my hands on a new hard drive, thanks so much for adding and testing this :3

I know that once you enable QA Flag, it remains enabled. QA key combo only works on 3.55.

Still, someone should correct me if I'm wrong.

you are right 100%, QA flag needs to be Enabled/Set only once on each console and will stay on forever even if you update the CFW, unless you run QA_toggle.pkg again to disable it.

A quick question hopefully while Rogero himself on on the board

I'm currently on Kmeaw 3.55 (which I went to from official then cfw3.41) so have never downgraded or anything. Having read all the info am I correct in assuming that all I need now is to upgrade to your .PUP diret from the XBM? I shouldn't have to enable QA flagging or anything (TBH I'm not entirely sure what it is/does as i seem to have been on the 3.55 for so long).

Am I also to assume that any further updates to your CFW (if there are to be any further other than higher FW numbers) they will then be updatable from within this FW. No downgrading before upgrading any more.

Also while you are on do you have anything further in mind for this CFW? ny future improvements you would like to expand upon? Sorry to be nosey with this question, just intrigued

heyy i was just wondering if any1 can explain to me if i can install this wen i have E3 cfw and my ps3 is 1 of the ones that came with 3.56 as default so i cant downgrade to 3.55 som1 help please cuz i really don't want to brick

i was on rebug 4.21 to be safe i downgrade using 999 then 3.55 though recovery,then i install rogero though xmb.i have phat ps3.thanks Rogero

do the same thing that you did in recovery but go though xmb where you update your system update and you see your usb storage there.hope that help

i repeat one question which was asked on first page can you upgrade directly from cfw4.21 rebug to Rogero CEX 4.30 CFW v2.03 did anyone tried,its really hassle to downgrade than upgrade one more question rebug and rogero both are good and have support of multiman(deank) so is it worth changing cfw,i had one problem with rebug, many times when i start ps3 it recovers files due to unproper shut down of ps3 it always recovered and booted ps3 but last time it didnt so i tried all the option in recovry mode 1,2 ,3...but it didnt work so i had to try last option where it erases everything in hdd i lost 3 years data in 320 gb hdd all the saves from games many many hours of gameplay(i didnt take backup sad enough but thats my problem and i cant do anything about it)right now rebug is working fine again so i ask suggestion from guys should i change cfw Rogero CEX 4.30 CFW v2.03

i updated successfully from the privies version of rogero cfw to v2.03 directly from the XMB my ps3 is a fat cechl01 i installed multiMAN 04.14.03 everything works fine hope this helps anyone that have the same model
