Deank has updated multiMAN to version 04.10.00. This is a great update for anyone with a broken Blu-Ray drive user can now use 4.21 REX in DEX mode with fake BDEMU stick/image for 100% game compatibility (must have a working logic board and married to the PS3). There has also been full support added for 4.21 REX (REBUG) firmware, among many more features you find below in this massive update by deank.

* Added support for PS1 disc backups for 4.21REX CFW in DEX/DEX mode
* Added support for direct-disc-access for 4.21REX CFW in DEX/DEX mode (data CD/DVD/BD discs)
* Added support for flashing 256MB NAND *.EID0.NANDBIN backups
* Users with broken BD drives can use 4.21REX in DEX mode with fake BDEMU stick/image for 100% game compatibility

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're using DEX mode in 4.21REX, use this CEX version of mM (do not install the reguar DEX mM which is only for official dex firmwares).

About DUMMY_BDEMU:

It is to help users with broken BD-ROM drives (which have a working logic board and married to the PS3). A lot of games have issues when started from /app_home or using "Direct Boot", that's why this is the BEST solution for such users. You will have to be on 4.21CFW REBUG (REX) with DEX Target ID flash and DEX LV2 Kernel (full DEX MODE).

Here is the readme:

If you do not want to waste a whole USB HDD you can use a
small 512MB USB STICK to emulate your broken BD-ROM.

Needed:
* PC and PS3
* USB stick/drive (512MB minimum size)
* Disc Image Generator Software (ps3gen)
* PLAYSTATION3.iso Dummy BDEMU image
* 4.21CFW REBUG (REX) operating in DEX mode with DEX lv2_kernel (FULL DEX MODE)

* Connect a USB HDD to be used for BDEMU
* Start "Disc Image Generator for Playstation3" (ps3gen)
* Click "Show" button in the top right-hand corner
* Click "Select File..." button
* Locate and select "PLAYSTATION3.iso" provided in this archive
* Click "Save / Emu ..." button
* Select "Write Image to BD Emulator HDD"
* Select your BDEMU USB HDD
* Pick a slot from the list and click "Write Image"

On your PS3 with 4.21REX CFW and multiMAN 04.10.00 installed:

* Install "Rebug Toolbox 02.00.00" and launch it
* In SELECTOR: REBUG MODE / DEBUG XMB / DEBUG MENU
* In DEX/CEX: Flash your DEX EID0 NOR/NAND file (DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN or DEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN file on /dev_usb000 stick)
* Quit Toolbox and reboot your PS3
* In XMB "Settings" go to "Debug Settings" and set "Blu-ray Disc Access" option to "BD Emulator (USB)"
* Turn off your PS3
* Connect the BDEMU USB HDD drive/stick to the right-most port (/dev_usb000) - the port closest to the BD-ROM drive
* Turn on your PS3

* You should see "PLAYSTATION(R)3" Game Disc mounted in XMB Game column
* Start multiMAN 04.10.00+, load a game from internal HDD or external USB HDD connected to another port. Do not unplug the BDEMU USB drive.

* Start your game from the Disc Icon in XMB.

Yes.

And hopefully this 'workaround' with a useless 512MB pendrive with the small BDEMU image I prepared can save many ps3 users with broken bd-rom drives

Hi nadheeh i have done that is it a standalone pkg or is it part of mulitman but installs so i can start showtime without haveing to start muiltman ??

1.) Your wrong with the PS3 TrueAncestor EBOOT Resigner v1.12 resigns eboots for 3.55 using the number 6 option, I was using it to resign all my eboots for newer games before I updated to REBUG 4.21.1 REX.

2.) Your wrong again, a pes 3.55 fix was released and anyone can make one easily with TrueAncestor EBOOT Resigner v1.12 with the original eboot or game update.

If you start to get crashes, go to "Settings"->"General"->Clear Cached Files / Clear Meta Data. Also in "Settings" i disabled retrieving META data for video/audio files, to prevent it from messing the names and stuff.

The showtime pkg worked great but i lost all my bookmarks with navi-x grrrrrrr (my sons will kill me) had to reinstall the plugins
It crashes for me with showtime direct disc it just fressie my ps3 when i go back to the XBM and have to hold down the power to shut of the ps3 then it dose a rebuild thing , I have now removed it but in to so i have lost my book marks for TV shows/series a- z and Tv alpha list lol I have gone looking for them in navi-x but can't find them - can't remember where i found them in the first place bugger - hope my 9 year old can find it for me or if some one can point me in the right direction - was going to watch some family guy from the us ( ie not played yet on Australian TV) .

Thank you dean, multiman gets even more perfect each time a new release arrives.
Can somebody tell me, please: What's the best 4.xx Custom Firmware for those wanting to play ps3 games? I've been seeing so many releases that i'm starting to get a little confused to choose one.

You can use mM or FTP and transfer your bookmarks... You old ones will be in /dev_hdd0/game/HTSS00003/USRDIR/st_settings.... just copy everything from st_settings to st4_settings. You will get everything back (bookmarks, settings, plugins).

Your an ass my friend, this actually was a pretty big update for those with broken bd drives. Your pretty ungrateful and its people like you that make devs feel under appreciated and end up leaving the scene. How on earth can you complain about getting too many free updates, blows my mind and no ones forcing you to update, if the update has no added benefit for you then ignore the ****in thing and move on.

Now as for the update itself, I'm not sure if anything was changed to cause this but I can't get the ntsc marvel release of Little Big Planet 2 to boot anymore, it stalls after selecting the game at multiman and a never ending screen that states verifying game data please wait. Anyone else experience this?

Try setting the game options(SQUARE BUTTON ON COVER) and mark the correct information above de game cover, such as if the games is on internal or external, Try different settings!Some games as Dragon Dogma and Resident Evil 6 took a while to verify game data!

yeah ive tried mucking about with the game settings, marking it as an external, trying to direct boot it, ect. Got a few other trouble shooting ideas like deleting multiman and reinstalling the last update that worked (04.09) but im assuming i need the full 200+mb pkg which is leeching quite slow on the free .....well well in the middle of writing this it decided to kick on, left it trying to verify data for like 5 min and eventually went on. Think i might upgrade the internal and run everything from there because not only did that verifying take long, i noticed the last play of LBP 2 the game itself was very laggy running off external

Hello everyone, thanx Dean for your wonderful release !
Is there any way to dump EID root key on Rebug 421.1 ? I tried the EID RK Dumper by resigning the eboot file in the package to run on CFW 4.21, but it keeps crashing my PS3. Was wondering if there is any workaround using REBUG tools and some other trick.

Deank, this question may be silly... but, can we use this BD image emulator on PS3s with WORKING BDROM drives? (the obvious answer is YES, I know). I ask because it seems that if i can leave my drive empty instead of having a PS3 game disc in there all the time, that perhaps it would increase the life of my BDROM drive? Does this make sense? Thanks DeanK for MMan and the rest. I'm going to hit that donate button -- been meaning to -- lets all pitch in a little cash !
