Does Sony Know ?!? Is 3.55 PSN Coming to an End Soon ?!?!

Well, I can't say this is unexpected. To be completely honest, I'm surprised Sony hasn't fully done this already. For me, personally, I don't really mind that much, I'm not really a big fan of PSN titles, anyway. I still have plenty of 355 games to go through in the PS3 library, and by the time I'm finished with that I'm sure some new CFW will be available.

Meh **** sony **** PSN and **** the 3.6 firmware! FYI it's simple to patch these updated titles to play again. you simply need to obtain a working eboot. I realize this is easier said than done. But yeah PSN on 3.55 isn't really anything more than a comunications network in that we can only really chat with our friends and compare trophies. I could have told you sony was resigning things. figured that out when angry birds of all titles wouldn't load on my ps3 after installing from PSN. see I happen to know for a fact that they had a version of it I could run back when I bought it so it clearly has been updated. So yeah right now PSN is d.e.d. dead! Well mostly.

Not to get hopes up folks but I'm sure one day this will change!

I don't think it's as simple as you make it out to be. That means that any eboots that aren't archived somewhere else will be lost after being resigned. And where does it stop? They gonna resign all the old updates too? Or change the eboots to where old edats/activations have to be updated to stay functional? Even if it just amounts to nothing more than a pain in the ass it's still a pain in the ass

Maybe I being short sighted, and let me preface what I am about to say by saying that I am not a dev.....but dose it really matter what they do to the older games most if all of them are already out on various sites or on people 's Hard-Drives. and as far as the newer games isn't there a E3 CFW on the way and or like it or not TB is still a factor for now (at the time of my typing) %ony should have already done this...like dagrimmreepa said $ony should have done this already, it is amazing to me how late and slow $ony is and we are still as a whole still on 3.55 & 3.41 and quick to cut down any advancement free or not...

And while it is on my mind....one thing that I do not understand when you look at the Xbox scene you have to buy a drive to flash it, or the Jungle Flasher, or anything from Team-Xecuter (prices range from 4.95 up 99.00) and that scene what I can tell is moving along quite well. and if TB or E3 charged a 1 time fee to play everything to stay on top of Sony and allow me to enjoy the games that they are trying to block with the new updates and allow me to run showtime, multiman, my emulators PSP/PS2PSX Great!!!!

I dont quite understand what the issue here is? Is it about getting games from PS Store when connecting to PSN on firmware 3.55? If yes, it is "luck" that PSN access works now, and who knows how long that it is going to last. PSN access on firmware 3.55 didnt work for like a year until recently, so i dont quite see where the "losing respect for the scene community" comes in here?

There excist pirated versions of a lot these older PSN games, so why not get those instead? I mean if you already bought the original game, it shouldnt matter much where you get the backup from. These releases wont get updated.

I dont think there is much point in updating the older updates since you only get prompted with the lastest update. Do the older updates still excist on Sony's servers by the way? As in, can you still access and download them?

this only effects people who play online with psn titles, i don't care about online modes so this doesn't effect me much, this could be a problem for retail games that have online mode, you won't be able to be signed in and play online as you can't install the update, i really do hate sonys updates, even on my ofw ps3 they are annoying as they take so long to install and way too inconvenient.

I see, so it is more of a luxury problem since having access to PSN is not something to be expected (being able to run CFW is a luxury on it's own though, but still).

As for games update, get PS+ and your problem is solved for the most part Automatic update is really nice. The only downside (depends on how you see it) is that it will only update the last 10 or 20 played games. So if you're going to play a game again that you havnt played in quite a while, you might have to do a manually update.

What a crock....but with that said I am totally not suprised. I would think a reason for this is that so many link sites have just posted links to PSN direct downloads and then edats or fixes for the acutal sony download. This works great as you can download the .pkg fast and direct and not mess with torrents or html downloads and all that other anoying stuff. I guess I am pretty well prepared as I have downloaded every edat activateable PSN game and just about every full psn game that has been cracked. I cloned my 500gb ps3 hd and now have two drives that can be dropped in. One has all my cracked psn and OFW transfer titles and the other has all my regular disc/tb games on it. Got a 2nd hd caddy and I just swap HD depending on which content I want to play. Fortunately lots of people have this old content and can dig out eboots for people that need them. Truthfully though I think it is a stupid waste of time by $ony. Most people have either already played these older games, have them on their HD if they care about keeping them or use the transfer method if they want 3.55+ PSN and they have both a CFW and OFW machine. I wish $ony would do something useful with their time like improve their first party software offerings, or get more PSP/PS1 content online for Vita or anything other than waste their time protecting content that is old and few people care about! Man a new CFW would be nice, but I would also love to see a BRD emulator that I could use on my OFW slim.

I thought Sony would of patched PSN itself by now. I guess Sony are having trouble in stopping 3.55 users from accessing PSN so they are having to do this instead... Well, at least I'll still be able to see how many trophies I have. Always found it retarded that you have to be connected to PSN to check that.

PSN doesn't have enough people to just ban like that. Sony hopes that eventually we will update to OFW. Then they don't lost another person on PSN. Only bannings there have been so far are people who cheated. I am not saying it will never happen it is just unlikely and even if it does happen we can change our PS3's ID.
