  • True Blue's Latest Security Measures - New Packaging/Security Sticker

More Clone Wars, as Team True Blue, in an effort to remain ahead of the competition, and also protect it's customers from fakes/knock-offs, have implemented a new strategy when it comes to the packaging of their dongles. First off, they are going to start adding a label to their blister packs, so right away you can tell if you may or may not have a clone. The next step in the process is the addition of a sticker to their dongles, which will easily show whether the dongle has been tampered with or not.

Of course, not all the current True Blue dongles have been sold, and you may end up with one without the new security measures; if this is the case, you can simply use the v2.7 firmware to test that you do indeed have an authentic True Blue.

    About New Packaging/Security Sticker:
New packaging for True Blue incorporating security measures and an updated picture identification reference for clones

Due to the recent emergence of clones we are introducing a new packaging system and a security sticker on the dongle itself to help ensure customers receive original True Blue dongles.

Firstly, a new blister pack with a label over the blister will be introduced, as shown below. This provides several measures for the user to identify if the True Blue device received is likely to be original. Note the unique security patterns in silver which are difficult to counterfeit, due to the colour variations on the background colours, materials used and complexity of the pattern itself. If the label appears to be stretched or appears to have been used before, then careful attention should be paid to the security sticker on the dongle itself.

The security sticker adhered to the dongle itself (shown below), partially covering the cap will provide the user with an indication of whether or not the dongle has been tampered with before delivery. Therefore, if the portion of the sticker covering the dongle cap has been broken, then it is possible that the dongle may have been tampered with. If this is the case, please use the TrueBlue 2.7 firmware as a means to check the authenticity of the dongle. If the word clone appears in the PS3 XMB where the TrueBlue 2.7 version number is stated, then you should contact your reseller for assistance. Security stickers are designed with a number of security considerations in mind and are very difficult to reproduce exactly. This will aid retailers and end users in determining whether the product received is an original.

Some original True Blue dongles are in the supply chain yet to be sold, which do not have the new packaging. If you receive a True Blue dongle without the new packaging, then simply use the True Blue 2.7 firmware to identify whether or not it is an original. Details can be found on the information page and inside the 2.7 firmware download package on the downloads page.

Finally, we are updating the picture references for users to identify whether their PCB is an original True Blue or a CLONE. We have released several revisions of the True Blue PCB’s which are shown below. The recent CLONE posing as True Blue in a similar casing is also shown below and referenced as CLONE. If you have received one of these clones instead of the original True Blue you ordered, then you should contact the retailer who you purchased it from for a refund.

    Official Site: True Blue

tthousand's tthoughts - Team True Blue has taken a hint from one of their recent cloners (the PS3break team), and have decided to help their customers ensure they receive a valid product. Even if not yet widely available, soon to be customers can contact the suppliers and find out what kind of packaging the dongle comes in.

In any event, the current customers are currently awaiting: new game fixes (EBOOT patches), TB Apps, and a possible fix for v2.6+ patches to take advantage of PSN access (currently only v2.51- patches working).

I think most of the front page articles have very little bias in them. The last couple TB articles here could be iffy, depending on how you read them. I think most of the bias comes in the responses, though.

tthousand - I understand how disheartening it can be when the things you write which receive the most attention are some of your least favorite creations (I have a similar angst about my youtube channel :P), but don't let that discourage you from writing! While I may not comment much, I do read most of them, and I'd like you to know that I appreciate the time you make for this site.

Well, my tb dongle sits collecting dust since I upgraded to ofw for online play, Netflix etc..

I do have a query though, even if I'd doesn't effect me.

      So...

I get my nice new shiny tb dongle.

I look at the security sticker, it's either there, or it's not.

I look at the dongle sticker, it's either there, damaged, or not there.

In any cenario, I instal the latest firmware to check anyway.

By the time it's through my letterbox, all the stickers etc don't meat a thing, I still simply test it on my ps3 anyway.

Why don't tb just simply list their only recommended resellers that they deal with personally and be done with it?

We are discussing it for nothing.
Everyone here knows why these last appearances.
You can not make new EBOOTs, wrapping up then they will succeed, if they get.
I did what I should have done long ago, I bought my X-Box, hallelujah.

Sorry tthousand but your moderators are not unbiased. I was on about BahumatLord. The first few words of his article were "this is for all the TB haters" which is a obviouse snear at everyone who speaks against TB. I'm not joking when I say he would *CENSORED*. Same goes for another one of your moderators too (not you) so that is two I can think of.

I see were still waiting for the new eboots that were talks they would be out this week. I don't think it will be long before TB just go silent and move on, i think Sony have started to corner them and they are finding it harder and harder to get games working so will eventually just move on.

Look, I am not saying that they may or may not be unbiased, what I was saying is that either way they are good guys, and can tone it down however they need to. I am sure if I talked with them, it would not be a problem. Like I said, my door is always open, and you guys can PM me anytime when you have a problem.

As for your ass licking contest comment, do you really think it is necessary to paint that kind of picture here at PSX-SCENE? You couldn't just say ass-kisser like everyone else, or brown noser?

@krytonic - It was just a joke and I hope that everybody took it as such. At the time there was a lot of trash talk from both sides of the debate. I poke fun at the TB "fanboys" too. Ask Goku1992 off the top of my head. I said it to get a smile from some people and to get a discussion going. Nothing more. I think it's kind of boring just to talk about black and white facts without putting a little spin on it. The only time you ever see me stepping in is when somebody is trash talking devs or other members. It's just unnecessary

      I can assure you I don't lick anybody's anything
