New True Blue Dongle Firmware v2.6 Surfaces and then Dissapears - v2.51 Follows

Well, there have been reports of the latest True Blue dongle firmware v2.6 being released. It looks like it has since been pulled from the official website; and people are speculating it is because the new firmware requires more testing. There is however, a v2.51 update available on their website. The v2.51 firmware comes with the newest dongles, and should not be used with older models; in other words, v2.5 users do not attempt to update to v2.51!

Update has been removed until more testing can be completed on all models of PS3 and different HDD setups. Problem should be fix within 24 hours.

Suggest to stay at 2.5 for now. -- 2.51 is internal version not released, only on some newer PCBoard models from the factory, not designed for older h/w.

Newer eboots are coming soon, at that time the update and them should be tested together.

Yes, because due to some changes that Sony has done with 4.11, it is best to uninstall first, all forms of ReactPSN, Spoofer or other tricks and allow the TB dongle to do the work for you with this update.

If you have attempted to update to 2.6 and are having troubles, some more news has surfaced that you might want to take a look at.

It has come to our attention that a small number of users may be affected by freezing at boot if using 2.6 dongle fw where they have modified their console cfw's files by installing programs such as ReactPSN, Cineavi protection remover or other such programs. The 2.6 dongle fw functions perfectly where the user has NOT carried out modifications to the console cfw. The console cfw should not be modified when running TB 2.51 cfw or 2.6 cfw, as this will cause incompatibilities which can lead to freezing at boot reported by a few users this evening on the forums.

In order to provide a feature rich experience for users we will add support for some popular programs/applications in TB CFW 2.61 which will be released within the coming days. We thank all TB users for their continued support and patience whilst we develop feature updates and firmwares.

Anyone who has modified their TB CFW and is experiencing freezing, may simply revert to 2.51 TB FW using the special fw file attached here and reinstall the 3.55 CFW DG on their console. This will completly fix any freezing issues. We kindly remind TB users not to modify the TB console CFW 3.55 unless we explicitly state in the accompanying notes included with upcoming TB 2.61 fw that the program/application is supported.

It sounds like the 2.6 release should be happening soon, which should include a 4.11 spoofer as well as some game compatibility fixes. We should also see the release of TB homebrew ports soon.

There is no real need to update currently, as there are no new EBOOT patches that have neem released with this update. It is recommended that official True Blue users wait until the update is officially re-announced before installing.

I recently bought a True Blue and it did come with the 2.51. The way I figured it... maybe I could have paid a little less for a knockoff, but then the knockoff would stand a chance of causing you issues with your system, possibly fatal issues. Even if it never did anything wrong to your system, you'd still have to wait for them to patch up the newer firmwares that the real TB team comes out with. So, forget all of that trouble, I just went with the real deal. They've put the work into the game patches anyway. They deserve the couple of extra bucks.

One of the updates for this dongle is fixed game compatibility. Perhaps this is one of the games that got fixed, and will work again.

I just installed the 2.6 update. I missed the original link, but thanks to some help I downloaded and installed it. It's working great. What I did was deactivate and uninstall rebug's spoofer. I don't have a camera handy but this is what it shows in the system settings

EDIT: I DID NOT UNINSTALL REACTPSN - JUST THE SPOOFER

System Software Version 4.11, True Blue v2.6
IP Address ***.***.*.***, True Blue v2.6

The IP Address line is interesting to me. I was hoping that meant PSN access but when I tried to login it still said a system software update was required. Does that mean we'll be getting 3.6+ game updates? or 3.6+ PSN games? Not sure yet, but I'm looking around to try to figure it out

No, the IP address line is there when you are connected to the internet and has nothing to do with game updates, PSN access or PSN games

i updated to 2.6 and had no problems i have the cinivia thing installed but been playing fine allday and what up with rage that game plays fine with the tb dongle i played it with out any problems

ReActPSN did stop working. Tried redoing the activations with no luck - THAT'S A BAD TB!!!!!

From what I understand the link to 2.51 posted earlier is for the dongles that came shipped with it on there. It's not for other versions. Here's the link to 2.5 for the rest of us http://truebluejb2.com/downloads/TrueBlueUpdate-2.5.zip

I take it you mean upload. And there is no need for that. You can still directly download it from the TB website if you know the address. But the question is why would you do that? What is the purpose of updating if there is nothing new

In my not work, it updates, but hangs on startup, only reported here q u i have the update but did not work with me.

haha thanks wasn't too hard to figure out the address Think i'll wait for 2.61 as i've tried using rebug and messed around with vsh a bit, also my TB shipped with 2.51.

Here hung on startup because of rebug?
I deleted reactPSN the Spoofer and everything.
But even so after installing the 2.6 he does not start, hangs.

I just want to say what a messy situation this is.

First the announcement of the HDD wipe, shortly followed by the knock-off announcement.

Now this botched 2.6 release, with the need to release the previously unreleased 2.51.

I hope this is not a sign of things to come for this team.

We will see how things go with the introduction of TB'd apps soon, followed by what one can only hope would be an abundance of new patches for PS3 consumers.

If JB King didnt run their mouth on how they can rip off any FW TB made there would of BEEN PATCHES

you cant blame TB for this.

JB king is really funny because that a dongle that's sole purpose is to LEECH off of TB. But it doesnt offers anything to the table like TB does. JB king should really just shut down.

And remember TB cares more about money than anything else they can just up and leave they dont really owe us anything honestly
