The game contents will be loaded from the disc with the exception of the eboot. It would probably take some minor modifications to the 3.55 fixes that are out there (with the exception of Uncharted 3 probably - if I remember, that was a good sized fix)
Did you read my post here (http://psx-scene.com/forums/f6/artic...l#post948740)? (Article: Crysis 2 and PS Move Heros Patches/Fixes - Start from Original Disc on 3.55) These "Devs" did noting, its not even their fix, the Crysis 2 "Patch" is the 1.04 update which containts 3.50 firmware and the PS Move heroes patch is just the 1.01 update which also contains 3.50 firmware. In my opinion like many others it's far from Scene news.

@HeyManHRU - I caught that but was trying to point out that even if this wasn't an update, that you could take an old 3.55 fix and just make your own update pkg. You'd just have to change the PARAM.SFO from DG (Disc Game to HG (Harddisk Game). I didn't think this was anything new. It's commonplace for updates to be lower firmware than the disc. How far off was I about the possibilities of redoing the fixes to load from the hard disk? I don't have a need for it, so I would never make one. Anybody tried it?

Edit: second glance I don't think that's quite right. That would end up making it similar to a PSN game where everything is stored in the game folder right?

Game updates are similar to the Game data a game makes when it installs to the Internal HDD this is why game updates show in the "Game Data" folder in the "Games" tab of the XMB and are also in the "game" folder located in "dev_hdd0" .You are right though, it wouldn't be too hard to make a .PKG fix using a fixed Eboot.bin file.

Seems like a step backwards if you ask me.

I know that updates are installed in the game folder. I'm not sure of the right values for the param.sfo but I know that there is one that will treat it as an update and one that will treat it as a psn style game, both being installed to the game folder. The update one would load the eboot from the game folder but the contents from the disc, the psn style would load all content from the game folder. Anyway, I'm not interested enough to find out. I still think putting the stuff on your hard drive is better than using the original disc for speed reasons and less wear and tear on your console, but if someone wants to find out for their own use then just search for param.sfo variables in google and you'll get a list. PS3 Dev wiki is down or I would have checked myself. L8R
