JFW DH delayed and possible exploit to play 3.6x+ games?

Looks like JFW DH, with its release date initially planned for October 1st, will be delayed. The DH crew is currently unable to give a date. On the other hand, they mentioned an exploit that will make us able to play 3.6x+ games.

As the title says, the JFW DH will be delayed for various reasons, including one of the devs working on OpenPStore is very busy with college, and the dev working on TheGrid Manager has had an accident while practising sports, resulting in him working much slower.

Without the plugin manager, we won't be able to control TheGrid plugins, and without OpenPStore we won't be able to communicate with the JFW DH update platform.

Everything was planned for the date of October 1st, but with those issues we will not be able to give an exact date (it could be just a week, or 2), we don't know, what we can guarantee is it will worth the wait, and once the JFW released, it will integrate an exploit (not right at release) that will allow you to play all future games (including 3.7x, etc), we will not release the method (this was always the mistake, release the methods) but this exploit is not keys related, as we don't need them anymore.

Sorry about the so-so translation, my Spanish isn't that good, and my English isn't perfect either x) Either way, we'll have to wait patiently. As for the future games, I seriously wonder how they plan on getting them to run without the keys... Hopefully this is true.

if they made it possible to play 3.6X games on 3.55 then after we get ther keys for 3.7X then they should update playin new games to that

please be out before thend of november...thats all I ask. I can wait only so long to play SR3 and UMVC3.

I think they have the root key. The reason they said keys don't matter anymore is simple. If the plug-in decrypts the game on the fly like a newer firmware would, there wouldn't be a point to decrypting and then re-encryption for a lower firmware like we've were doing for 3.41 and 3.55 games. The idea is the team gets the keys with the root key, then they put the keys and curve into the plug-in. The plug-in subverts the system and runs the games much like the system would have in the past. The advantage is that this will work for retail discs. You'll be able to use a retail copy of a game, the system will read the SFO and the plug-in will take over and run the game. With security disabled, noting will stop the plug-in.

The reason they didn't say, "We have the root key." is because scene members would wine that the keys should be released. That and Sony would probably call up a Kill Sat in orbit and blow the planet to pieces.

Who knows? We will in a few months. If this turns out to be real, it would be a great reason to get that over priced 1TB 9mm Laptop drive I never cared about.

Theory #2 - What if the plug-in simply uses newer firmware files to run the game? That would technically work, but is also a dead end in some respects.

I don't think a group of members with an already established 'product' would ruin there reputation by saying they have a way to bypass without using the 'keys'. You'd be a fool to. I just hope they didn't think solving a way to play PSN games (like we can now) was the crack/method, and thought "wow, this means we can play PS3 Games", and jump the gun and tell everyone they've cracked it. But hey, maybe the way to play PSN games has absolutely nothing to do with that they said. Technically THEY must of done something to get a piece of code or A GAME to run on there CFW. I just hope they tested various games to check it's integrity. That being said, what they said MIGHT be no more than a drawn up battle plan, and THINK they have it. Remember this was translated from Spanish to english, things from that post might of have been omitted. All I can say I reckon they will release a video most likely showing s 'proof' in the early stages of grasping the idea on how to play newer games.

Kayot: If they found the rootkey, then it makes sense. But personally i dont think this is the case. Not that long ago, DH wrote how to get the 3.70 keys, what was needed. I'm not sure that they managed to do all this in that short time. The way i understand their statement was that it was a way to play newer PS3 games without knowing the keys.

About theory #2, maybe it is possible, but i think you then need to be able to decrypt the firmware first. And if they have the rootkey, then they can easily find the 3.60+ keys, so i'm not sure why they try to make it more difficult for themself.

jamiez: That is also something i wonder about, why they would make such a statement if there were no truth to it. But we'll see what happens.

Agreed, we'll just have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, don't reserve any games until this is confirmed.

I hope this becomes something good to come. I got my BD disc of GOW Collection 2 here with me, and I can't wait to play it on the big screen! Loved it with the tiny screen on the PSP, but would love to replay it on a larger screen.
