NFW 3.55 - bitbubba's Newbie Friendly Ware! Cinavia Disabled!

A member who joined the PSX-SCENE the same time as me, and has double the posts I do already, bitsbubba, has made for EVERYONE's enjoyment, a new user friendly 3.55 Modified Firmware we like to call... NFW (Newbie Friendly Ware) . Using PS3MFW Build v0.2, he has applied the new Disable Cinavia Patch as well as the standard Kmeaw Patches. He has released two versions, one Spoofed to 3.66, and one unspoofed.

He has also released version 2, which includes plenty of extra goodies for all of us newbies! This version does not include a 3.66 spoof. You can download that seperately from rebug.me.

Go out there and create your own MFW, or enjoy another 'classic' release from bitsbubba!

Instructions aka 1-2-3 NFW (bitsbubba's Newbie Friendly Ware):
1. Format USB device FAT32
2. Place PS3UPDAT.PUP in x:/PS3/UPDATE
3. Install via XMB
NOTE: If you are not on OFW 3.55, please download and install that first, the same way you would install NFW. You can find OFW 3.55 here.

NFW 3.55 v2 Release Information: Since the release of version 1, bitsbubba has went on to create NFW v2, which includes the removal of several unwanted icons, a custom coldboot, and a dynamic theme, and of course, other goodies. He has removed the 3.66 spoof... if you would like to spoof NFW v2 to 3.66, you can use Rebug's Spoofer. You can find all the specs below!

Great work guys , I have never used recovery to load FW's or OFW's though but good nature to keep I guess.

That is only with v1 spoofed. The other one should be fine to load whatever FW or OFW you want

app home with a new name since it's mostly use to start games without the disc (also install packages is now in "The Homebrew Channel" category)

If you wouldn't mind waiting as I am not at home right now. When I get there I will post the checksum for both the PUP and the zip (.7z)

why don't these hackers stop making the same frickeN 3.55. BY THE WAY HAVE THE 3.6X KEYS BEEN FOUND YET??????????? JUST GET TOGHETR AND MAKE 3.66 CFW

Does this cinavia fix work on AVCHD or just the streaming like the last one posted on the front page?
I play everything from USB stick and have only ran into problems with one movie ( Battle:L A ) I had to watch it with buggy showtime so it kinda made me sad.
From my understanding this current cinavia fix doesnt fix anything played from USB or HD just streamed content.

Guys, I am still on Kmeaw 3.55 CFW since the day it came out, and I am clueless as to how I can go from Kmeaw 3.55 -> This CFW. Can I get some help? Also, I am pretty much in the dark about switching between 3.55 CFW's in general.

Reading this forum for half a year now, but always hesitated to install any CFW. But this sounds so easy, that I just want to try it out...

One Question: If I am still on OFW, do I have to install any other package before this CFW or can I just install over the update function of my ps3?
