i kind of tried everyone you said with 2 games, less the part of updating, some games even remove older updates and just leave the newer one, i also never got a game that told me to update multiple times, it always downloads the latest one, but is guess its worth the shot.

now, were are you guys getting your files? i only tried ps3scenefiles.

Are you talking about v.106 ? Install first the patch (pkg) to v.106 then overwrite the files in \dev_hdd0\game\BLXXXXXX

Does fifa 12 v.106 work for you ?

Now I don't play Fifa, I just don't like Soccer.

But on what I recall, there was a Fifa something as a PSN version that you would install on the XMB. If this is so, I hope the people reporting this issue with Fifa are not trying to patch the PSN version, since I think these patches are only for the game disc version.

I also suggest for you to read all my last 4 or 5 replies in this thread. I give insight on what you need to know. some patches are for game data, some are for game backups. While others provide more details (a bonus download) in the DamnNFO file and etc.

This is not for newbies. You need to know what you are doing or else, you will make mistakes. The people that patched these games tested them before launching them. There might be a few bugs, but they usually fix these as they discover them later on, but at least they should boot up and you should be able to see something like the game menu and etc.

Thanks for replying Jay-Jay. Indeed I am no newbie and I have followed the instructions right on. And it did not work for me (asks for firmware > 4). I am also using the disc version, not the one where you install 3 packages. I am also on 3.55 kmeaw. So if anybody got it to work please share your insight. Thanks.

try rebuilding database from recovery after applying patched files

@cyadron, I wish I could help you. But I don't have the game. I know I would be able to figure it out in no time.

I'd suggest to install all the updates available for this game up to the last one that this fix patches--you do this only is the patch method is patching a newer game update--if not, then don't do this--it might not work if the patch only patches the first release of the game and not any updates. You could use "Awesome Update Findr 0.3" to find the updates. Then I would investigate the patches to see what they are. If they are in pkg mode, then it simple, just install them like you do any other homebrew pkg--just be mindful of the game ID should match yours.

If the fixes are not in pkg mode, then I would open the param.sfo with a reader and see if it says game data or disc game in the info. If it's "game data" then all those files next to that param.sfo are for the game data "game" folder on your internal HDD. If it's "disc game" then those files have to be put in your game backup. And also be mindful that these files need to be placed correctly within the directory. Many times these patches are placed in a single folder, but you need to search and find them so you can replace them in the correct place in your PS3. I wish the patchers would have done this to avoid noobs making mistakes like dropping all those files into one place.

I've witnessed noobs put game data param.sfo and files inside their game backup folders and then they question why they get a black screen when they try to load the game. So again, it's important to know what these files are meant for. Open those param.sfo files with a good reader and pay attention what it says in the info.

I think I gave you a good method to follow. If you are still having problems, then you are a noob--because the patches are reported that they work.

And don't take any offense when I say "noob". I am also a noob to many things. But then I have like bitsbubba to help me out--he is a true jedi master!

lol I just read alot, it seem many users are having problem like this one, so rebuilding the database is forcing the PS3 to see the new PARAM (as to why the re-packs are working so well as they auto-force PARAM in database)

but if you want the easy way here's a repack FIFA.12.106.CFW3.40.UPDATE.PATCH.FIX.USA.rar

And I read what "you" write.

Yes, perhaps he installed the pkg in the wrong sequence (meaning he missed another one) or he put the param.sfo file in the wrong directory or before installing an original update first and etc.

I would have wished that the patchers would have created pkg installs on some of those patches, because the PS3 database won't see that change until it's installed as a pkg first. This is why I think many times the patchers indicate in the damn.nfo file to install the original update first then after we just replace those files with the patches. For example: install original update 1.02 (non-patched), then install update 1.02 (patched)--notice how both are update 1.02? I hope that helps.

When I started to notice these patchers doing these things, I predicted in another thread a few weeks back, that this was going to be a problem with a lot of noobs. Many don't even check the param.sfo to see if its meant for a game disc backup or the game data install. I hope everything I have posted so far in this topic (read like my last 4 or 6 replies) help them in some way.

      Thanks
I just said something about this in my previous replies (see my last two or three replies in this thread about "black screen".

Two ways you could have gotten black screens.

      1) you incorrectly put a param.sfo file in your game backup folder and not in the game data folder as you were suppose to. Open the param.sfo file and if it says somewhere there as game data, then that's the reason. Hopefully you backup all the files you replaced.. you will need to restore them. the param.sfo files always says whether this file and the other files are meant for game disc folder or game data folder. Learn to open them and read them to understand where they should go.

      2) turn on BD-Mirror, sometimes in multiMAN it requires you to do this.

Okay guys, I think I've done a lot in the past few hours in this thread. I don't like repeating myself. So please read all my last four or six last replies in this topic. I generalize how these patches ought to be installed and I give you insight on how to do this without making noob mistakes.

No more replies from me in this post.. this is my last reply to these issues.

Even if he does that, he still needs to restore the files he replaced in his game disc backup folder. I think he put the param.sfo, eboot.bin and perhaps some other files (I haven't seen this patch to be sure how many more files are required) in the game backup folder and not in the game data folder.
