Beginning in a few minutes, over in Aussie-land, the third and possible final big court room battle will be starting, with the Honorable Justice Dodds-Streeton presiding, in the Victoria Federal Court Room 6B, level 6.
Now if it was up to me, I get the guys in suits to lossen up a bit, with us techie geeks, and we settle this once and for all over a long night of cards, winner takes all, loser well loses!
How many mod-CHIPs (pun?) do you raise? -- If Sony is holding an ACE?
But that is not the case, instead a bunch of small little businesses in the land down-under are fighting for their rights to make an living and support an market, against a very large corporation that thinks devices like the PSJailbreak and now the totally open-source PSGroove will hurt their previously un-crackable air-tight lock-down now Linux-less PS3 platform.
Previously Sony was able to get the courts to order a total import and sell or even offer to the public an injunction last week, when only the PSJailbreak was starting to roll out.
But now in less then 7 days, we have websites like PS3KEY, PS3Stinger, x3jailbreak, and now the super world-wide famous open-source DIY homebrew called PSGroove, which has caused an global world-wide shortage of devices that have ATMEL chips in them called USB development boards, or Teensy, and now even the Blackcat modem flashing devices.
All have been sold-out world-wide in even small no-name countries, so today's big question what is Sony going to do, fold their hand in this high-stake poker game?
Or take everyone down, rumors are Sony is going to shortly do the same they did in Australia to even single supplier world-wide of these devices?
But can Sony stop people from selling Blackcat devices on Ebay? -- Or ATMEL from selling their USB development board? -- Or Teensy from selling theirs?
Ozmodchips, last tweet saids it going to be an long day in court, so we might not have any live updates for many hours, but stay tuned to this new thread, and we are all wishing him and the rest of the resellers fighting for our rights, Good luck!
In case I don't update this fast enough, look here for possible updates:
The folks over at TIAO have announced their entry into the three-ring circus that is the PS3 Jailbreak scene.

We are working hard on the Jailbreak Tiny (a.k.a PSGroove Buddy) for your PS3. You can install open-source firmware (PSGroove etc.) to this USB dongle, which will enable you to run homebrews on your PS3!
The still unknown makers of the http://x3jailbreak.com have updated their news page on their website.
In their new list of claims, one of them is even lower prices then all others, in light of the new PSGroove release. -- Better case, and even better processor (32bit now!) with hardware USB?
Oh'well, time will shortly tell the real truth from the website faker's.
For now PSGroove seems to be most real and working DIY product, except of course for the original samples of the now famous PSJailBreak device.

Our goal at x3jailbreak was to provide you as customers a powerful, quality and low cost solution.
Even with recent events you will still be able to purchase our x3jailbreak for lower then any other device available including new homebrew devices suggested online.
You will receive a quality dongle that is completely functioning and ready to use as soon as it arrives.
Our X3jailbreak features include the following:
1) Larger case for ease of use and less change of misplacing or losing your dongle.
2) More Powerful (competition using 8 bit processor compared to x3 is using a 32 bit operating processor)
3) Hardware USB compared to where PSJ is software emulated
4) As updates become available x3jailbreak is easily upgradable.
5) Expansion ports for upcoming features/add-on
Your X3 will come with a serial number to use online to verify proof that your x3jailbreak is authentic and also you will be able to use your serial number to access the download area when new updates become available.
Following up on some late news, two different people are "tweeting" they are working on a version of the Open-Source PSGroove code that will run on devices that use the Android O.S.
Please NOTE this is an Work-In-Progress project!
That means it is NOT completed but it is being worked on hard by these two people.
Here is what the first person has to say so far regarding their port'ing efforts:

Currently the only real requirement is that your phone be rooted and running an android OS.
Also this is not limited to just phones. You can also use an android tablet. Or any other device you have that runs Android os. It appears to work on my netbook as well.
I'm very close to producing a fully working bug free app for this.
* USB Plug and Play solution that installs in seconds without any need to open up the PS3.
* Does not break your warranty seal.
* Compatible with all PS3 models, both Fat and Slim.
* Supports all regions: USA, JAP, PAL and KOREA.
* USB device fully updatable by PC.
* Disables forced software updates and will never brick your console.
* Supports most games and homebrew applications.
* Easy-to-use software for backing up, managing, and playing games from external USB Hard Drive.
* Playing games from HDD is much more enjoyable, benefiting from greatly enhanced seek and loading times.
* Supports installing homebrew application on PS3 and external USB media.
* Optionally PS3Key can be supplied with an "open" firmware which does not support backup loading. Users would then have to download a firmware update for PS3Key to get full functionality.
With all the commotion over the release of Math and companies PsGroove. One aspring person(eavpsp) has decided to take on the task of making a working port for psp.

Change Up!!!
I decided to make the USB Dongle: Teensy and use the open source Teensy Loader software so i can recode it and make it install the Hex onto the Teensy PSP emulator. This will reduce the amount of time it takes to make the app and make it easier to use!!
i need someone who thoroughly understands the OpenPSJailbreak source code..im working on the PSP Teensy emulator
He has now doing updates on both twitter and his blog Update #2

Then enable the type B driver i edited earlier, connect it to the PS3 and the PS3 will read it as if it were a an actuall Teensy Dongle
I dropped the cwcheat idea due to the fact that this is a much faster and easier alternative!
I may have jumped into the frying pan when i wasnt supposed to, but I inspired other programmers to help along the way. One follower tole me "Succeed or Fail, we will always remember your efforts!" and thats all i ask!!
Keep Hope Alive...until the resurrection of the great psp god...Dark-Alex returns..
Update #3 Pics added
This port will be using CWCheats ability to read hex files and hopefully be able to run as a enumerated usb dongle. When ready a public beta will be released.
This page will facilitate all updates and information as it comes in from his twitter account.

Shortly after the release of the PsGroove the PS3Wiki over at www.ps3wiki.lan.st has been fully updated with the technical analysis of the PSJailbreak Exploit!
Written up by phire (aka phiren on EFnet). Thanks to Matt_P, subdub and others for helping develop this theory.
Quote:
Intro
The PSJailbreak dongle is a modchip for the PlayStation3 that allows users to backup and play games off the harddrive. Unlike the modchips of the Previous generation, or the modchips so far for the Xbox360 and Wii, this modchip simply plugs into the USB port on the front of the PS3, avoiding the need for complex soldering and voiding of your warranty.
As the time of writing this document, the final PSJailbreak has not been released, but a number of samples were given out and at least one fell into the hands of someone who owned a USB sniffer. This analysis of the exploit is based on those USB sniffer logs, issues encountered during the development of the opensource PSGroove version of the exploit and a number of educated guesses. It will probably be updated as new information comes in.
The initial analysis by gamefreax.de suggested that it was a Stack overflow attack. After further analist it turns out that this exploit is a Heap Overflow attack. The exploit carefully manipulates the heap by plugging and unplugging fake usb devices with large device descriptors until the device on port 4 which misreports its size to overwrite one of malloc's boundary tags.
Now with the release of PSGroove, this may not be needed, but pictured below is what looks like a indeed fully working diagram of either the retail PSJailbreak dongle itself, or the maybe one of the soon to be released clones, to me it looks like maybe the x3jailbreak device.
The schematics use the smaller Atmega16 chip, compare to the bigger version used by PSGroove, the Atmega32, but looking at the code it should be possible to fit it in the smaller version.
Combined these two releases and you can become your own professional PSJailBreak clone within a matter of a few days, just think up a name (Sorry, PineDrive is already taken!), and build a crappy website and take pre-orders!
Thanks to ModRobert over at www.EURASIA.nu for pointing this news out to me.
A gamer who sued Sony over an upgrade that removed functions from his Playstation 3 console has lost a court claim against the company.
Adelaide man Michael Trebilcock wanted $800 in compensation, claiming the upgrade meant the console could no longer be used as a computer.
Electronic game players in the United States have launched class actions over the same issue.
Holden Hill Magistrates Court previously heard the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission cleared Sony of any wrongdoing regarding the upgrade.
Mr Trebilcock's claim was dismissed by the magistrate, but he was not made to pay Sony's legal costs.
Sony 1 / Linux 0
Next big Aussie case will be on Friday (Thursday evening in North America) with Sony vs. PSJailBreak!
Most likely with release of PSGroove, I see Sony pushing for new injunction to cover any DIY devices!
Mathieulh and his crew have released their long awaited "free" version of the PS Jailbreak code.
To the dismay of the majority of people waiting for it, though, the team have disabled the ability to install games. If running unsigned homebrew code is your thing, though, grab a Teensy++ USB Development Board or an AT90USBKEY and have fun. Or wait for a "third party" to enable Backup Manager support.
This software is not intended to enable piracy, and such features have been disabled. This software is intended to allow the execution of unsigned third-party apps and games on the PS3.
UPDATE: The makers of the "Teensy++" have informed possible buyers, that they have received an "Unusual Higher then Normal Volume of Orders", and currently out-of-stock, but trying to get lead-time down to 3 days! http://www.pjrc.com/store/teensypp.html
UPDATE #2: Hackers have released a patch that will allow PSGroove to work with Backup Manager.
UPDATE #3: Over at PS3News, martenbroadclk has now shared pre-compiled hex codes ready to burn followed shortly by hex codes for all boards, including both the original PSGroove release and CJPC's dev_bdvd patched version.
