Hi,

First off if I'm breaking any rules by talking about a certain media player, sorry.

I have just installed a DMS3v2.0 in my PS2 and I have managed to put the explorer on a mem card and also I have managed to put on a media player modded by R18. The only thing is when I select it it says 'loading' then all I get is a blank screen and the disk spins forever. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need something other than just the avi on the disk? does it have to be written with specific settings?

Thanks

Acestes

Its probably because the version you are using still has the protection.

I downloaded 2 versions and 1 gave me a blank screen after i selected media player 1.25e @ the dms3 explorer.

Tried the other version and it worked fine.

Cant remember the 2 versions exactly.

Try this one :

why would u need to do the r18 hack to use the media player?

@ FarenHeit

Thanks for the help, but that link doesn't seem to work :( Would it be possible for you to e-mail me with the version that you have that does work?

@Calisurfer008

You need the R18 hacked version otherwise it doesn't work as they have put a DMS3 protection it it.

Thanks for everyones help,

Ok, lets not mislead people.

As I understand it the standard version works fine on a dms3 modded machine but the hacked version is needed if the media player is to be loaded off the memory card instead of cd. (hence dms3 protection)

Can someone please confirm this before most people think that the media player CAN NOT run from cd on a dms3 modded ps2.

This one works: http://www.kickme.to/dms3

I believe that as corf said, the player will run from the CD with a DMS3 but has been protected to stop you from modifying the binary to run from the memory card.

Ok I downloaded the version found on 'gothi's' link, but it still doesn't work. I'm now thinking I have had my wires crossed and this version hasn't been hacked to work on the memory card, but just on the DMS. Is that correct? If so that means I need to rewrite over 50 cds :(

Thanks,

Acestes

P.S. @ Fairlight yep looks like double standads to me :mad:

have you installed the DMS explorer first? If you did then did it install correctly?

@fairlight

I have installed the DMS explorer, I presume it installed fine as it didn't say otherwise. It just said installing then went to the explorer screen with just the option browse. I then rebooted (with the explorer cd removed) into dev. mode and inserted the divxplayer disc and pressed select. It then searched for the disk and said installing the player. I then rebooted into dev. mode with a disc containing just a divx, then selected the player and that's when I just get the blank screen. Hope that clears up what the problem is.

that is strange :( it should have installed just fine. try to go into the browser and delete all of the corrupted icons and then install the explorer again. then try installing the divx player again.

Tried that, no luck :(

Fixed it :D

It was me being stupid. I hadn't erased everything off of the card so when DMS tried to install the player there wasn't enough room, only it doesn't tell you that and just makes it look like it was ok. But as soon as I erased the entire card (just hope my friend who I'm doing this for doesn't mind starting again in their games :lol: still I wasted enough time for him!) it all worked fine :D :D :D :D :D

I would have helped you by giving you a link to the mediaplayer, but in the light of a recent ''Fuck You'' PM I've received from you, I think I will pass:lol: I hope nobody will help you on this matter because you don't deserve any help at all. First you send PM to random people asking your question just to avoid searching a little on the forum and then you insult them.

Here is a link to the MC bootable PS2RMP R18 here (http://www.freakware.de/technik/PlayStation_2/DMS3/Software/divxplayer_dms_r18.zip)

And there is another link that doesn't work cause *ipper2 is in the link(and it gets edited:( ) so you can find it at http://www.freakware.de/technik/PlayStation_2/ and it contains the R18 nfo that was released with the cracked version of 1.5.

The reason for earlier versions of MP not working from MC is because they use external libraries from the CD. You install it into the MC and it still looks for the libs from the CD. 1.50 works nicely from the MC but there indeed seems to be a "protection". If you try to modify the code (who? me? what? ;)) to skip displaying those annoying screens and logos the player only plays around 7-10 minutes of the selected video and then freezes. Worked nicely with the old 1.25 tho :)
