Does anyone know if it is possible to use Gameshark codes with a no-solder chip and Swap Magic disc's as the swap disc? It does boot the game, but the codes don't work. The reason I ask is because my copy of DMC is getting scratched. Thanks in advance. :)

Anyone? I know people here don't like Swap Magic (and I am not thrilled with it either) but someone must know. I love my Magic 2! Please help. Thanks. :)

You dont have to use DMC to boot ps2 games, any old ps2 game with a larger TOC than the backup would do. Some common large games are GTA3: 4.32 GB GTAVC: 4.34GB FFX: 4.32GB DOA2hc:4.35GB.
On a side note, I dont see why what you propose would not work! Try it with codes on a backup of a game, that you know work on the original of that game.

It is the strangest thing. The boot method I used with GS/DMC/No-solder worked great for about 2 months. Then, after I would insert DMC and wait 30 seconds, I could hear "clicking sounds every few seconds. Whenever it would "click" the boot method would freeze at the "updating codes" screen. If I didn't hear the "clicking", my backup would boot. It may boot 1 out of 15 times if i'm lucky. I almost replaced the laser but got Swap Magic disc's instead. Now EVERY game boots with SM.
I can boot the games using SM as the swap disc with the GS/No-solder but the codes won't work. :( Would resetting my GS dongle solve my GS/DMC/Nosolder problem? Why would the games stop booting with GS/DMC/No-solder but boot every time with the Swap Magic? I am very confused!! Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Well the gameshark is a CD, and wobbles and scratches itself ALOT. I was informed enough to weigh mine down with some scotch tape, and weighted it to be the same amount of grams as GTA3. hehe. So my gameshark still isn't too bad after 1 year. You can try to reset your gameshark, remember, alot of these things that you ask about can't hurt to do... so you might as well experiment with them before asking what will happen... see for yourself like alot of us do! You might want to rent another copy of DMC (not that it will really be less scratched) just to see if codes work with that, but yes, the first thing I would do in your situation would be reset my GS and see what that achieves.

THE GS or Codebreaker DO NOT work with Swap magic. I've tried it so many times before I got rid of my POS Swap Magic discs. There is no way possible (that I could ever think of) to get copies to play with swap magic. I tried EVERYTHING!
1. I tried loading Swap magic disc (DVD), and then loading CB/GS, and couldn't get it to work....I'm not sure if that ones right (been a long time since I used swap magics).
2. Tried loading the CB/GS first, and then inserting the DVD Swap magic, and of course that woudln't load...I didn't use my DMC demo at the time, but even if it would work-It still would take the cheats off whenever swap magic loads before the CB/GS.

The thing is simple.
If you put the swap magic discs in first, and then use CB/GS-It's going to take off the efects of the Swap Magic (your loading the game from CB/GS!)
If you put the CB/GS in first, and load up Swap magic-Your taking off the efects of the Cheats!
So, either way...It's impossible! They cancel eachother out.

If you still don't beleive me for some reason...Just go ask on PS2Ownz, and when nobody replies back to you, or they reply back and are like "I don't know!" Then you know i'm right ;)

Great explanation Primenal! That is pretty much what I thought. As for ps2ownz, I wouldn't be caught dead there. :) I was pretty certain you couldn't use codes with SM, I just didn't understand why they boot my games when the GS/DMC don't. I have even tried a brand new DMC with no scratches! It will boot an original game using GS/DMC but not backups. Confusing because it once did.
