Ok peoples, there is NO way to play backup without a modchip or doing the cog swap. Period

if it works, then post it, and make a video of you doing it while you're at it, because they dont fucking self-boot

that fake tutorial has been around for a long time, and all it does is waste your time, and make coasters that you cant play, because you dont have a modchip and dont do a swap method

and if you would actually know something about the copyright protection of ps2 games, the 'bad sectors' isnt all there is to it.. besides the fact that this explains for psx and that you need the original, and that its only for cd games, which there are less and less of, and all the good games by now are on dvd.

so even if it does work, which it wont.... its pretty damn stupid

Yeah there are plenty of methods of playing ps2 games without a modchip, but you cannot play games from CDs that are larger than 72minutes, and they require you to either remove the top of your ps2, or take off the drive tray and use a plastic knife to fool the ps2 into thinking the tray is closed... when you manually open it, allowing for a 'swap' trick.

hehbo2k2 is right. You can play backups using the knife/credit card trick but that is just plain stupid. 99% of the people who use this method end up busting their ps2. Now what would you rather do, buy a new ps2 for $200 or spend $50 or less for a chip? No brainer there. Just buy a mod.
