NEOASIC's Magic 3.6 Released

The guys over at NEOASIC Just released the NEW Magic 3.6. This chip has the Magic 3.1 code programmed on it. By the looks of it they have changed the circuit board design also. NEOASIC has been kind enuff to send samples for testing by PS2NEWZ. In addition they will be sending their Messiah 2 CLIP v2.12 for testing which they claim works on ALL models v1-8. Solders are always better than clips. This is the main pb of magic 3.5 & 3.6

for v8, dvdr would not boot i think.

I have the magic 3.6 installed in my v7. The only problem I seem to be having is that the chip seems to overheat for some reason. I think this could be due to the clip chip on the bios. I pulled my ps2 apart and pulled the chip off the bios and the bios chip seemed rather warm to me. When this thing heats up, I can't boot any backups, ps2 or ps1. Originals still run fine and DVD's play fine. Just guess when the bios can't release the heat it builds up, the chip just won't work.

What is the difference between this and the old Magic 3.6? I thought the point of the old 3.6 was that it had the 3.1 code as opposed to the 3.5 which had the 3.0 code. I'm confused.

This chip works on v1-7 PS2's NOT the v8. From what I can tell the circuit board has changed. And the code is (Magic 3.1) There is also a new sticker to ID the NEW chip form the past version 3.6. The past release of the Magic 3.6 had (Magic 3.0 code). It is a little confusing.

The Magic3.6 is base on Magic3.1 code as I got reply from Neoasic.com, there are 2 type PCB design of magic3.6, one is Magic3.5 PCB but with Magic3.6 sticker, the other one is new design on their web. both of 2 type of Magic3.6 are all base on Magic3.1 code.
