How do you handle vcd?

Let's say you like vcd movies and you already know you can't play
them on Playstation 2 ? What do you do with your big fat collection of VCD movies? I mean is there anyway for people with
VCD movies to convert them to other format so they will be playable on Playstation 2 ? Then if its possible then please teach
me how to do it, thank you very much!

Sincerely,

dog8me

mydvd by sonic is what i use
basically drag movies in (bar tells u how much space is needed, cd or dvd burning possible, have tested dvdr on ps2 but not cdr

it does take a while to process your image depending on your pc and how big the vcd is
then burn your dvdr (regonised as a dvd on standalone and ps2)

options to create menus so on are included multiple films on 1 dvdr ( still vcd quality )

Assuming we don't do any file conversions, PS2 can't play VCD. Period. VCDs players are dirt cheap. Just get one of those..

Yeah, I'm almost sure that there's no MPG1 decoder built into PS2, just MPG2 (for DVDs).

I have lots of anime on VCD, and I saved them on DVD (20 episodes per disc) with VCD standard fileformat (just increased audio because DVD standards).

The result was a BIIIIG VCD that plays on standalone DVD players (with VCD support) but being played on PS2 every frame looks bad decoded, just as if the pixels were 1000 times bigger.

So you need to convert the files to a REAL DVD supported format.

Greets!

Actually, this isnt true. The PS2 does infact have a mpeg 1 decoder. How else would it play PS1 FMV's. Please think, then post. Not only that, but I have heard that you can convert the VCD's to .Pss format and somehow replace the intro move of some games with this file. I havent looked deeply into it since I have a DVD burner, but I might be able to provide a link if you want it.

Circuit City has a special buy right now on the black Apex 1200 for $49.99. The 1500 for $59.99. Got the 1500 because it has a friendlier remote and a display panel on the player. Plays everything I've thrown at it--even out of spec VCD and SVCD on CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, and DVD-RW. Awesome player--just can't make it Region/Macro free like my silver Apex 1100W. That player is the Schizit!
