DVD movies or DVD based games? On DVD movies, CSS protection is pretty much the standard as far as 'copy protection'. Use a program like DVD Decrypter to rip the contents of the DVD movie to your HDD. If its a DVD 5 (single layered DVD movie) you can create an .iso of it and just burn that to a regular DVD. If its a DVD9 (dual layered) you will have to use a pgm to get it down to a DVD5. (I use DVD2One) It works like a dream. Try www.doom9.org for more info on DVD movies and such

dvdshrink is a great piece of software for transcoding DVD9 to DVD5. YOu can also do stuff like rip out uneeded streaks (such as the fullscreen vesrion of the movie) ANd it also wil happily decrypt the CSS for ya and region free the movie.
COurse to properly play PAL movies in america, yo ustill need to use your c pu or get one of theose universal players fom Conia.

PAL in America... some APEX DVD players can handle that.... my dad's older APEX can... my newer one without the nice remote can't...
and my APEX 27" TV lets me play PAL games without using a convertion utility...

DVD Decrypter is the best and it's free. It can copy anything from PS2 games to DVD Movies. It takes off the protection and you?re done. That easy :D

I'm i the only one here who thinks all of this talk is a bit illegal??? WTF, if its for personal use only then what's the harm.
What ever you do, dont let the kids know. My child went to nursery, and when asked what she had done this weekend, she said she helped daddy download Shark Tale??? :shhh: Aren't children wonderful.

first of all Peeman. yes at the point that you came into the conversation yes thier was illegal discusion going on... Dog8me made the mistake of saying that he works at a rental shop... ( i may be wrong but doesnt the dmca say that you are allowed to copy every peice of media that you own (newspaper, vhs, dvd, ect.) once for preservation purposes... maybe not) But legally speaking... You can make a 1:1 copy of a dvd without css protection ( or whatever the protection method is ) using alcohol 120 you can get the free version here http://trial.alcohol-soft.com/en/download_120.php Just make an imgae then write the image... make sure you write the image and just dont burn the file. now on the other hand i say use dvd shrink for all your css protected dvds... tutorials are out thier

If your trying to copy dvd movies then u must consider what a dvd film is (DV9-9gig) usually there is some sort or transcoding(crunching) to be done to fit a (DV5-4.3gig) O and dont forget the copy protection... You SLYFOX trying to CLONEDVDs.
FOR THE SQUINT EYED ONE TOOFERS OUT THERE... READ BETWEEN THE LINES.
