Ok, I got a big ol problem. For some reason, my PS2 can't SEE PS1 memory cards! O.O Its modded with a Magic 3.1. It doesn't boot sometimes, but I figure thats cause I'm using the standard W point and not the mod point.

Anyways, not being able to see the PS1 memory cards is a big no no. It can see the PS2 ones fine though. Just noticed it today while trying to play DDR 5th mix.

I thought the PS1 memory cards were not compatible with a PS2 and could only be read in a PS1. Maybe I'm wrong.

The PS2 can read PS1 cards, however I'm unsure as to why they are not been seen. It's most likely a hardware issue, other than that have you tried a different card?

the playstation 2 has the ability to use both ps1 and ps2 memory cards ONLY ps2 memory cards are for ps2 games and ps1 memory cards are ONLY for ps1 games since they use different saving formats

ps1 saves can be stored on ps2 mem cards but not vice versa.

The issue here is that the PS2 is not seeing the PSX memory card (as shown when playing DDR 5th mix, a PS1 game) not whether the PS2 can use PSX memory cards (it can) or where you can store these saves :)

This happened to me too! It went to the browser, and it would detect nothing of a sort of ps1 mem. card. And what's ironic is that it could see my 3rd party mem. card, but not the official sony mem. card!

This was something I noticed with the Apple Chip as well. So let me ask you the following question: Is the undetected memory card in the first, or second port? If it is in the second, try switching it to the first port and see if it is detected then.

I think it's a problem of version hardware, i have a v3, and when I try my card of Mamadou it will not appear and if i try in a v7, it work (and there is a chance it will not in another v7)
There is certainly a problem of hardware production (like an information who was swapped during the fabrication
Sorry, i am french and my english is poor, but i try to give you what i have tryed

I was playing my old Tekken 3 the other day cuz i just returned Tekken 4 to the vid store. Anyway, I played like 6 games, unlocked 6 guys, tried to save and it WOULD NOT SAVE to the ps2 mem card, so i had to dig up my ps1 mem card and use that, then after that, I tried to copy tekken 3 save from the ps1 card to the ps2 card, it went, but when i started the game, It said NO MEMORY CARD or something close to that, as it said before when i tried saving to the ps2 card, very dissapointing:cry:

i have a Magic 2, and both ports won't work, so i wouldn't know what the problem is. :(

I should've tested the ps1 mem. card fucntion BEFORE my ps2 was modded. :(

So much for buying official Sony mem. cards, eh?

How do you save PS1 game in PS2 memory? I have one PS1 (not Sony) memory card and one PS2 (Sony) memory card and I never had problem with either one of them. However, PS1 game can only use PS1 memory and PS2 game can only use PS2 memory. I also find some games only use slot 1 so I do have swap the card when I am playing PS1 game sometimes (I usually have PS2 Mem. in slot 1 and PS1 Mem. in slot 2 and I never take either one out).

You can browse both PS2 and PS1 cards without a CD in the drive from the browser menu. You will be able to see all the games that you had saved in each card including icons. Once I had PS1 Mem. filled with invalid data for some reason. it will show up as slots with no icons so the game will report no free slot left. All I did was deleted those slots and the Mem. card got free slots again. Never had issue with the PS2 card.

You can store PS1 saves on a PS2 memory card, however you cannot use them on it, it is simply storage

Actually, the funniest thing happened to me trying tosave onto a PS2 memory card. Ok, first I will say my V7 is not modded yet I am waiting on a M2PRO from foundmy.com. But i was playing the game "Sydicated Wars" for PS1 with three of my buddies, it's a schweet MP game. So we beat like the 9th level. One of my friends says, "hey we should save". So i go Ok, and I find an old sony PS1 memory card (mad catz ithink) and put it in. It saves fine! So we go play some pool and come back. Now we turn it on, and the game informs us there is no memory card in the slot. So this sucks. I decide to dig up the Ol PSX, here's where things REALLY get freaky. So I boot up the PSX, I load our game. It says we are on like some level we are not. Our guns are all messed up. It says we have 2 players. All this wierd stuff. So we put it back in the PS2 to try again. Now it sees it, so one of my friends enquires that the PS2 may only READ properly from a PS2, so we copy the Data to a PS2 memory card. All goes well, but now, syndicated wars wont recognize either card. Plz help! I want to keep my 9th level status!
