Apparently the website www.magiccase.com has begun manufacturing and advertising Flip top clones!! I was forwarded an email by them last night and they are indeed not made by Z's silly cliq and promise improvements to the design and a new Swap magic disc that will support oddball ps2releases and 80 minute games! Looks like Z has finally been given a taste of his own medicine! ROTFLMAO!! :lol: :lol:

cases look sweet, transparent design is good idea.
the ones z sell suck a bit, got Zon the lid and web urls on the underlid. At least these guys took that out

Cool. I've been looking for a new case to brighten up my PS2. I might just get one of these just because it's translucent. If they have a different color (other than smoke) I might add a neon light or LED light's inside to make it glow.
Anyone familiar with electronics know if installing LED's similiar to the one's below is detrimental to the PS2?

i can assure you the magic case isnt in anyway related to Z, if they want to promote MC then there just cutting there own throats.

Is there any disadvantages to using flip top cover?
I read the site and it says no soldering required and it plays all
cd/dvd backups. This sounds to good to be true, whats the catch?
Why go through all the hassle of buying an expensive modchip and soldering if this has the same result with only 5 min installation.
Is this thing for real?
Does it boot games in 1 shot?

It doesn't boot everything. Solder mods are better (why else would we go through the trouble)?
Check out this thread (http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=8394) and you'll see that Swap Magic doesn't play many of Kal's releases, and probably won't anytime in the near future...

Because I had a swap chip and it took me sometimes 3 tries to boot a CD and it couldn't boot dvdr

Not having actually used swapmagic, I can't speak from experience. But I have read that folks have problems with certain games due to TOC sizes.
Suggest you search the forums...

even gpiong through 2 manufacturers and thousands of people they sill havent realized they only need to undo 6 screws for the case, and the swap magic 2.0 has no 80 min support

Is this the Swap Magic V2.0 disk they include in the combo? Will it play Kalistos rip of Xenosaga that ownz fliptop had such a complication with, i.e. p/n selectors.

Why did'nt Z put a patent on the flippy lids? Anyone could use that idea and profit from it. Z will probably be faced with lowering prices. This will make for a interesting war. Maybe this was what Guichi meant by Z's downfall? BWAHAHABWAHA! LOL! :barf:
I thought the boycott was the extent of Guichi's plan...if this is in fact part of his plan, I'll be extremely impressed.

Use a proxy, itll make it so that you have a different ip while surfing with a browser thats got a proxy enabled. Your gonna have to find one though, check google and if one or two dont work, keep at it, it takes a while to find a good one, and even then itll probably only work for a while.

I think the reason why nobody has patented the fliptops yet is because the design is so similar to that of the original PS2 case. Dont wanna have Sony breathing down your back :p

In fact IP banning doent work unless your ip is static.
And fueds are so much fun to watch :)
There are Anony Proxy IP programs, but I had to work with one for an hour to get it working properly...and the proxy was slow. It's not worth it.

Perhaps, but for the most part they tend to get out of hand, are awfully tedious to endure, and wind up merely perpetuating things.
I'd like to believe that the general membership here considers themselves a little more intelligent and mature than to openly keep using these forum threads to engage in needless mud-slinging and organized antagonism. Every time these threads start, it only serves to drag the overall level of this place down another notch and provide fuel and justification to "the other side."
Your loyality is appreciated, but keep in mind that "what goes around, comes around" as we've well seen happen "elsewhere" over the course of time. So how about from now on we all just be content to let things wallow and drown in the mired pool of their own making and be quietly content at that... ;)
