Product: Pelican Code Breaker Version 6.0

This version of the Code Breaker it's fairly good, of course every product has it flaws and it good things, in my review you will find few interesting things and you may decide to buy it or not. I think is better than the others, and I recommend it.

Controls have changed

Hold R3 and move = Shows up the help menu
L3 = changes the view
Select = Add new game
Triangle = Delete game, cheat, or code

The good

- When you are going to boot the game, the disc tray ejects automatically, and after the disc is inserted and X is pressed it closes automatically.

- It has a nice 3D interface, way much better than the old ones.

- B's and 8's don't look alike any more.

- The Code Breaker Ver. 6.0 supports a new type of "M" codes (enabler)

- When a code is selected it automatically turns on the "M" so you don't forget to activate it.

- In this version you can edit existing games.

- It's compatible with old CB Code Saves.

- It has lot's of codes preloaded on it.

- It boots the games in record time, really fast.

The Bad

- Takes more time to save the codes

- Takes up more space in the memory card (around 700 Kb's)

- Added games are added to the top of the Cheat List, instead of having it in order like previews version of the Code Breaker

- Still no keyboard support

- Some games are mixed, example in the Code Breaker Ver. 6.0 you cannot find codes for "Terminator - The Dawn of Fate" on the list, but if you go to "Turok: Evolution" list you will find the codes for "Terminator - The Dawn of Fate" in the same list mixed.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Stars

To identify the product in the store

The Code Breaker Ver. 6.0 has a box like Ver. 4.0 and 5.0, but it has a transparent sticker saying:

Over 250 Games & 10,000 Codes
Including all the latest Codes
GTA Vice City, Tekken 4
NFS Hot Pursuit & Socom
Also includes new Super Codes

[Up]/[Down] Scroll up and down the game/code list

[Left]/[Right] Go From; Game <> Cheats <> Codes

[Select] Add New Game/Code (Main Menu: Shows CB Version Info)

[Start > Save Changes & Go back to Main Screen

http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/images/icons/bullet_3.gif Game Selected Turns on/off all codes under that game/ Code Selected turn on/off that code... (Main Menu select's Start Game/Select Cheats)

http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/images/icons/bullet_2.gif Same as [Right]

http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/images/icons/bullet_1.gif Delete Game/Cheat/Code (Can't Delete Premade Codes)

http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/images/icons/bullet_4.gif Edits Game Name/Cheat/Code (You Can Edit Pre Made Game Names/ Cheat Names but not codes)

[L1] Page Up/ Hold for fast scroll up
[L2] Top of list

[R1] Page Down/ Hold for fast scroll down
[R2] Bottem of list

(L3) Press and move analog to change angle (Main Menu: Water Effect Cursor)

(R3) Hold to display help on the Right tap to reset angle (Main: Menu: Water Effect Rain)

I give it a 4 out of 5 because it rembers the last code you added and brings it over when you add a new one... Would have been 5/5 if it had Keyboard support

In My Computer the file size for the CD is 622MB. In Nero it says the CD is 717MB, and the length is 70:52:33

In my ps2 when it had a Magic2 clone in it the CodeBreaker worked fine with originals but it wouldn't boot copies.
I should be getting my PS2 back pretty soon with a Magic3.1 in it.

I'm not sure but they hacked the CodeBreaker's boot image off of the crazy taxi game I think the file's that the CodeBreaker uses may not be 600+Mb because i think they left a lot of crazy taxi garbage on it.

BTW: i got my CD-ROM to work for a second

Hey you can also do some wierd stuff with it. Like pressing down on left analog controller will allow you a small cursor on the main screen of Codebreaker and the water will ripple around and if your press on the right analog controller it will have like a rain drops affect. Hmm I know nothing that great, but what the hell. I was getting it to boot dvd-r games, but it is to much hit and miss on magic 2 mod.

i had an old magic2 in my unit till a few days ago. heres what i did the majority of the time to get things running using both codebreaker and gameshark.

for the codebreaker i would select the cheats then at the main menu i would hit eject and put in the game. as the disc is closing with the dvdr i would quickly hit start game and then hit X at the small menu that would come up. at this time you should see an error on the screen and it will bring you back to the main menu. while all of this is happening, listen to your ps2 as the disc should have ended the authentication process and slowed down by now. now just hit start game and X. it worked most of the time for me.

the gameshark process had a less sucessful rate than the codebreaker. i would hit eject after hitting start games then load the game up. once the disc slowed down i would hit without codedes and then hit R1 and O at the same time. Normally they would boot.

I have a Magic 2 that works with Gameshark. Codebreaker is hit and miss. What mod do you have now Guichi? What are the rest of you using for mods and ps2? and what sucess have you had when playing backups with Gameshark and Codebreaker? Gameshark I have no problems playing cd-r dvd rip and dvd-r. Codebreaker I had no problems with cd-r games and dvd rips. DVD-R's are the problem. What does the z connection do on the magic 2 anyway? I know it let's you use Gameshark on a ps2 with a magic 2 mod. But techincally what does the z wire do?

I just got my PS2 back today with a Magic3.1 installed in it. I tested Smackdown:SYM! with cheats on CodeBreaker and it worked.
I have a V7 PS2, I used CodeBreaker v 6.0

The z-wire tells the modchip that the modchip needs to be used again if you swap discs in your PS2. Without it your modchip will be used to boot up the CodeBreaker but when you swap in the backup game it will not boot because your ps2 doesn't use the modchip when it tries to the backup game.
