The reason why is not ripped because the release group try to rip it but have no success. The DVDR is the back up of the game on DVD and it cost around 6-10 dollar. But we can not show you where to buy it since it is against posting rule incase you ask.

which release group tried?

and I though no-one had attempted to rip it because without the videos, it'd be a pointless game

That is too true. I justing guess there since most of the video you just can't rip since it is part of the game play it self.

Oh, wait forgot one thing....
What's the purpose of making a back-up on DVD anyway?

This is the term we like to use, We use back up so we don't damage the original game and leave it in mint condition. :) we all know that is not true anyway atleast not for me ;)

But, what's the point of a back up if it isn't possible to rip the game? Is there another way to get the videos of the game without ripping them? You know the way you record something off the TV?

The point to a backup of a DVD format game disc to a DVD-R is that it's a full 1-to-1 image of the original disc with nothing whatsoever missing. No chopped out or re-looped audio, no missing cut-scenes or movies, no down-sampled audio or video.

The price of both DVD-R burners (e.g. Pioneer DVR-A04 or DVR-104) and quality DVD-R blanks are reasonable these days. If you don 't mind having a less than complete game the way the authors intended them to be, the by all means, CD-R rips are just the ticket for you.

As for extracting PS2 audio, movies and animation scenes, there are tools available to do just that, although it's not always straightforward as to how to use them. You need to do some web research (try Google) and you'll find what you need if you're so inclinded to jump through all the necessary hoops for extraction...

PS2 tools
PS2 extraction tools
PS2 extraction tools audio
PS2 extraction tools video

are a few of the obvious multi-word choices that come to mind...

Also try rummaging around over at www.gamecopyworld.com and see where the various links lead you to...

Well after a few long hours of searching I've found not one single program able to extract audio or video files from MGS2. Actually I'm not quite sure whay I'm supposed to be looking for....i know that it extracts video and audio files and such, but I don't know what exactly its supposed to be/do? Plz, a little help, balto

U may as well just give up

Particularly if this is your first time at ripping anyway, and even if you do manage to get something, like the guys on here said earlier, the final result will be almost unplayable
