ok im new to this and some help would be appreciated i got swap magic v3.6 to play burnt ps2 games and i need help with ps1 now theres all the loaders such as keyloader launchELF and things like that i need some one to tell whats easy to use and provide a guide if they could.
PlayStation specs.
my ps2 is a ntsc SCPH-79001 ss/97703
im not sure the version i think 16 its the new silver models.
iv also heard of psxlauncher what ever that is but i heard it works on ps2 v16.
i just got my ps2 so i would not prefer to take it apart.
my current method of playing burnt games is put in a original and let it load in the browser and while its spinning remove the original and put on my backup. i dont like do this because i have to stop the spinning thing to remove and replace meaning i could mess up the motor in the long run which i why im look for another method plus i cant start disk 2 of mgs because theres is no save in between disks like ff7.
some help would be nice ty

no swapmagic is for ps2 back ups only and to go along with my first message is there any method that will let me play psx games such as mgs where you have to swap disks without saving. like ff7 u save then swap disk mgs makes u swap in game so is there a method where i can play games like that :chinscrat

I've said this many many many many many times in various forums including this one. if you want a "swap disc" for ps1, you migh want to invest in gameshark (disc version) for ps1. this will stop the motor so that you can use it like swapmagic. This has to be done for the meanwhile since a possible new method of playing ps1 games on a ps2 is in the works.
swapmagic will not do ps1 games since it is a ps2 format program.

CDX (3.0 I think) and newer. but it has to be a disc based gameshark meant for ps1.
Action Replay for ps1, as well as codebreaker for ps1 will do the same.

that'll work.
Also you'll have to load the gameshark for each backup that you want to run. including multi disc games.
for example:
multidisc such as ff7
load gameshark
swap out for backup
play disc
time to change to disc 2
reset (hopefully you saved your game before)
load gameshark
swap out for backup (disc 2)
play game
time to change to disc 3
save
reset
load gameshark
swap out for disc 3 backup
play

pop in the original, get to a save point and then swap out using the gameshark method.
If you don't have the original, then you are pretty much S.O.L.

Sorry man. Ok i want to run ps1 backs. You said to use a game shark. I have a slim version. Its version 16. Is there any other way to run back ups. Such as the new mcboot or freevast. And if so how do i put it on my memory card using swapmagic v3.6 plus? From what i read i need to have ulaunchelf on my memory card to run the elf file. How do i put ulaunchelf on my memory card? Like i said im new to this and im sorry im bother u so much with the questions.

The gameshark swap method is the only viable way on your system currently without hard mods as mentioned a couple posts back.
You do not run uLE to do this. you boot a retail ps1 gameshark from disc, and preform a swap. (The same way you would do swapmagic on that version system.)
ffgriever is working on a PS1 emulator as a side project that could possibly stream the disc image over a network connection, but it is far from complete.
The only other way to run ps1 backups on your system with full function and no swapping would be to use a mod chip (also known as a hard mod)
In reality, I really suggest you install Free MC Boot on your PS2 memory card so that you will have an easier time later on running PS2 format homebrew on your system. (And quite possibily the emulator if it is released later on.)

oh so mcboot doesn't play ps1 backups? well there is the way i do it now but its dangerous and i don't like doing it. i load any original go to browser and swap out the original while its spinning and replace it with any burt game i wanna play
