I've been trying to get these new exploits (ESR, I think?) running on my PS2 with the Memor32 and so far have had no luck. :,( It always hangs at a black screen.

I renamed the "ESR beta r8a dvdv direct.elf" to "BOOT.ELF" and placed it in "C:\Program Files\Memor32\Ps2Saves\BOOT\"

I then Restored it onto my Memor32 thru the Memento SaveGame Manager.

I put a disc into my PS2 (Patched with Memento) and with Memor32 in the memory card slot, then hold R1.

It's here where it just hangs on a black screen. Nothing happens. What am I doing wrong??

 How can I fix this??

ESR requires some special CDVD driver initialization as performed by the FMCB v1.5 booter, or by the RUNME.ELF v1.1a used with earlier FMCB versions.

On memor32 with memento installed, ESR should work just fine without the additional initialization (it's done already by memento). At least that's what other people reported (I do not have memor32).

Hmm.. So basically I've just got to keep tinkering and wait for another person with Memor32 to help?

Grr.. Haven't got it working yet. :,( Tried for about an hour today.

Can anybody provide some light on this subject?

Works fine on my memor32 card using the memento 1.2e firmware and ESR beta r6 dvdv direct.elf.

I actually have never tried any of the other ESR as that one works for me.

Memor32 can be strange sometimes. I sometimes at first had to just load up the memor32 and go to Browser, look over the items, Exit and shut down PS2.

Then put your disc in, and hold R1 while you power on.

It works for me on my Memor32. I used firmware 1.1. FYI, at one point, I'd moved some files around and gotten the Memento functionality messed up, and had to format and re-install the 1.1 firmware, then the R1, etc started working again, and I did exactly what you said above.

Be sure you have deleted everything else in the BOOT directory except the BOOT.ELF

If it's still not working, to help debug, put Ulaunch as the BOOT.ELF and see if that works. If it doesnt, then it's not ESR that's the problem, its something else with the Memento setup (try above, format, install 1.1, etc) If Ulaunch is working, put ESR in the BOOT folder as ESR.ELF and run it (by pressing O) in Ulaunch. Then finally, just simplify to ESR as BOOT.ELF, and hold R1 and it should fire up!

sorry for being a noob, but why would you need ESR with a memor32+memento? are some games not supported or something?

ESR works fine with some that memento doesn't. That's probably one reason to use it with memor32+memento. Plus, both on one system give almost 100% compatibility (unfortunately there are some games, that ESR is incompatible with and memento works with them, but there is just few of them).

Thanks you for this! I haven't had time to try it out yet but you've even listed out some common problems and given me the solutions! Very helpful man I really appreciate it.

I'll let you guys know once I try again.
