Everytime I follow a tutorial, I have Launch Free McBoot on my screen, but it jsut restarts the console. I put uLE in BOOT/BOOT.ELF, i rename it and put it in the boot folder. Is there a tutorial out on me doing this?

Ok you are telling me that you have already install it? but it goes back to the ps2 browser but don't know how to get to ULE right maybe is that so i'll start from here:
Take your pendrive make a folder in it and name it BOOT after that take
BOOT.ELF and put it right in that folder you just did in your pendrive the one you name BOOT insert it in the ps2 and restart your ps2 if you did correctly you'll see ULE boot from the pendrive from there just copy BOOT.ELF and go to your memory card to the folder name BOOT there paste the BOOT.ELF
now once is finish take your pendrive out and restart the ps2 you'll see that now ULE will boot without the help of your pendrive...
Anything else ask ok..it will help me to know if have install MCBOOT 1.5 or not?

OK you have to install MCBOOT 1.5 first do you have install it already?
If you do once you add the folder name BOOT to your pendrive and add the BOOT.ELF to that same folder yes it should boot ULE if you restart your ps2.
if you haven't install MCBOOT 1.5 to your memory card doing this wont do anything...it just will take you to the ps2 browser.. so you must install first
the MCBOOT to do this step do you have it install or not cause i have ask you
from the las time if i remember..i need to know that.

Yes, I have FMCB installed, v1.5. I added it but its still going to the browser. Could you link me to one that you know works so I could test it? :/
Edit: does it matter what usb port it is in?
If you add the file RESCUE.ELF in root-dir of your stick, it'll EVER start, if your stick is inserted.
Or try the attachment, I've posted here (http://psx-scene.com/forums/426846-post2259.html).

here is the easiest way i found to do it now that you have mcboot installed on memory card
get and iso of ulaunchelf if you dont have one make it with the program "elf to bin"
k now use your swap magic and start the ulauchelf iso
plug in your memorycard
now goto cdfs/ and copy all the files. now goto mc0 (thats mcslot 1) and paste the files in the boot directory. restart your console with only the memory card and you will boot directly to ulaunchelf where you can figure everything else out from there

tna's files are booting either. Can someone link me to uLE. When I burned my last copy, it wouldn't let me navigate it. if I scrolled down, it brought me back to the top. I don't know if it was a bad copy or what :/

uLE 4.16 {BOOT.ELF} is included in TNA's files, just remove the USB stick after the install and re-start the console and uLE should boot.
If you leave in the USB and re-start, you will be booted to the Configurator app so you can assign buttons to Free McBoot.

I have it installed. So I should be able to stick it in there, and it should boot? I stuck the usb in and turned it on. Nothing happens. Do I have to do something?
Edit: I burned uLE to a disc, @ 1x speed, and this still isn't working. I can't navigate the menu for it. If I scroll down, it starts me back at the top and I can't do anything. I went out and bought a brand new memory card for this, I just want this to work. No one has a tutorial for this?

Ok, im a little confused on your process.
You installed Free McBoot and it said it installed successfully? {using the files provided by TNA above}
You re-started the console WITHOUT a USB and it didnt boot uLE?
You re-started the console WITH a USB and still nothing happened?
You then tried to run uLE from a disc and it also wont boot uLE?
Have you tried to run uLe from a USB stick with SwapMagic's SMBOOT option?
I just dont understand how uLE wont run at all for you, maybe try a different download of uLE's older versions.

I don't either. I installed it using FMCB on a disc installed correctly, I used 2 different MC's. Went and bought a new one. Both are Sony 8MB. I had uLE renamed as BOOT.ELF in a BOOT folder, so it should have copied it to the MC, right? Well it apparently didn't because the option just restarts the console. I can boot uLE on disc with swap magic but i can't scroll down. Its like its just..broken. I scroll down, it brings it back to the top. It's just my luck. I somehow have problems no one has ever heard of :/. I burned three different discs. One @ 16x, one @ 4x, one @ 1x. ALl have that same problem. It is just ridiculous how this isn't working.
Edit: Does it matter brand cd? It's memorex. I don't know if I need Sony or something.

No, not in any folder, just on the root along with the installer.
Having it in a BOOT folder on the USB stick should auto-boot only if there is none found elsewhere and the USB stick is in the console on a re-start.

Alright, I apologize, I'm goign to go into as much detail as possible.
I downloaded the .iso for ULE. I used Ultraiso to add FMCB.ELF & HDL.ELF. I started the disc with swap magic and it boots into uLE, but I can't navigate it. I then replaced teh uLE BOOT.ELF with FMCB BOOT.ELF. So I booted into it and installed it no problem, said successful. So now I need to use uLE to copy uLE to the MC in mc0:\BOOT but thats my problem. I can't get a workign copy of uLE. It won't let me scroll down in it, so I can't click anything except the first item on the list, with just leads to the "..." option so I just go back. I need to get a working copy of uLE. I've burned 3 copies and all have the same problem. Should I try going down a version or 2? I'm using 4.16 right now. I tried adding TnA's files to the usb stick, but it never started. The files were in the root directory, still didn't boot.
That about sums it up. Should I try a different version?

Ahh, i see....did you also add a BOOT.ELF on the root of the CD? There needs to be a file with that name to be copied by the Free McBoot installer.
Use the compressed one, since its going to the MC.

On the root cd, the boot.elf was was uLE and I can't navigate it :/.

I mean a filename specifically BOOT.ELF, or was that the name already being used by the SYSTEM.CNF ? Most people use a SLUS number for the disc's boot filename, so thats why i said put BOOT.ELF on the root and all in caps.
The Free McBoot installer should do the navigation and just add it for you to the MC during the install, you shouldnt need to install it again afterwards.
The file I attached is for MASS-ROOT-ONLY!

@nintendo9713:
The uLE 'scrolling' problem you mentioned in your posts is a partly known issue with gamepad initialization. When this happens it usually acts as if a gamepad button is constantly pressed, and usually that is the D-pad 'Up' button, which gives the 'scrolling' effect you described. This problem is not fully explored yet, but it seems that several factors are involved, including the gamepad itself (new ones are less likely to suffer) affecting whether or not the problem will strike at all and whether it will then persist. And unfortunately all homebrew 'exploits' are more likely to cause it (non-Sony init), even if the gamepad works fine with games (standard Sony init).
Some things you can try are to temporarily disconnect the gamepad and/or switch the analog mode on/off. Sometimes that can stop this auto-repeating button behaviour. Another thing you can try is to edit the LAUNCHELF.CNF file to automatically launch another instance of uLE (having a different CNF of course). In most cases the gamepad initialization of the second instance will work better than the first, thus curing the problem.

I've even tried USB keyboard if the eliminates the controller problem :/. Same thing for the keyboard.
Edit: Using uLE, I can navigate to mc0 only because its at the top. I see a BOOT folder. Apparently something is copied, or do all MC's have a BOOT folder already? When I installed FMCB, I had put uLE as BOOT.ELF in the BOOT folder, and so I think it would have copied or something.
I can't access my MC in Browser. I see it, but when I press X, nothing happens. But gamesaves are still there, I tested a game, and still have my profiles. I bought a new MC (Sony 8 MB) at gamestop and tried it, same thing :(.

keep the files on the usb device!
use a different launcher :) or, manager program. maybe this will work?
the boot folder on your memory card is auto created when you installed fmcb
it contains a .icn and a .sys file or something like that. the files you want to add are BOOT.ELF and ULUANCHELF.CNF

Its not an installer problem or any app for that matter, i personally believe its his console, as he has mentioned it is a spare console put together with various other version consoles and i think theres a 'clash' of info from the mobo/bios with some parts.
But thats just a possibility, as i dont know for sure this would happen.

When the gamepad goes into the erroneous mode of auto-repeating D-pad up, it will not stop doing so just because you also have a keyboard connected to the USB interface. So you will still see the same problem as before. But if you then disconnect the gamepad, it can no longer send any button responses to your PS2, and then you should be able to navigate uLE using the keyboard.
That is clearly described in the file "usage.txt" of the FMCB release package.

That does not match my results. I've installed FMCB v1.5 both on an 8MB Sony original MC and on a 32MB Datel Max Memory MC, and both those MCs work fine with FMCB booting. When going to the Sony browser (with the added entry for FMCB) I can inspect the MC contents as usual, with all gamesave and homebrew folders being displayed as the usual icons. And if I back out from the MC browser and use the FMCB entry that will relaunch uLE.

I unplugged the controller while doing it, same stuff. I don't know if this matters, but this is kind of a hybrid system. I had a broken v5,v7, and v9, and I used working parts to make this one. So I have spares of everything, but the other stuff is broken. My v7 dvd drive was broke, so I replaced it with the v9 dvd drive, adn other stuff I swapped, I have no idea, it was a while back. The only thing I know that still works is my other set of controller ports.

somewhat unrelated, but i have a general FBMC question:
just checking, but with v1.5+, does using the 'multi-version' install allow for you to use the card on other consoles? i plan to take some of my friends cards and use my FBMC'd console and do the installation for them as they are even less tech-savvie than me, and i just want to check before i bugger up their memory cards. their consoles are the same region as mine, so according to the read me it should work, i just wanted to run it past you guys first
