"Good News Xploder HDTV player works with the few ESR patched games I have tried.Just boot Free MC boot after running HDTV player. The retail disc or patched elf both work. Here's how it worked.

Run HDTV player, choose resolution, take out HDTV and put in ESR patched game and push start game. The MC boot, intercepts and I run ESR from ULE. Game boots with progressive mode on and HDTV resolution previously chosen. If you use the patched elf then you don't even need to change discs.

This was on a NTSC v3. It worked on proscan TV and VGA monitor. Component color output mode must be set correctly for it to work, eg VGA=RBG out, HDTV=Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr."

I'm trying to do this with the elf, but when i press start to run the game it doesnt boot it. Anyone have this working with the elf?

It works fine with an actual copy of a game, but it wont work with a ESR patched copy.
When I use the actual HDTV Player disc, i can boot up back ups, i just wanna know if there is a way of booting up back ups with the elf

i just tried and it works for me. For some reason the elf only works when you have a legit ps2 disc in the drive when you boot the elf. Otherwise it will hang at the starting game... screen. So you just have to swap the legit ps2 disc with a backup and it will work.

I'm also having a problem booting a back up after using the actual hd disc now lol

Edited: I've found it does indeed work, it works by intercepting the 1st auto load location of your button config for free mc boot therefore you have to set it to load ESR ;-) it only works though if have an original ps2 disc in your tray whilst the ps2 is booting up this because it reads the TOC of the disc and it reads the first line of SYSTEM.CNF to tell it if it's a PS1 or PS2 disc also your backup has to be the same region as the original ps2 disc or it won't work although it might if you put VMODE = PAL/NTSC into the SYSTEM.CNF of your backup.

Install FreeMcBoot v1.5 as normal use the new button configurator do this

# ----------------------------------------
# Based on uLaunchELF
# ----------------------------------------
#
CNF_version = 1
#
# ----------------------------------------
#
LK_Auto_E1 = mass:/ESR/ESR beta r8a dvdv direct.elf
LK_Auto_E2 =
LK_Auto_E3 =
LK_Circle_E1 = PS1DRV "This is the Playstation Driver"
LK_Circle_E2 =
LK_Circle_E3 =
LK_Cross_E1 = erom0:DVDELF "This is dvdplayer.elf it handles all media inserted into the tray an loads the appropriate program to play it, useful if you want play a dvd or audio cd although it'll start PS1DRV for you, it can't boot original dvd ps2 games though for some odd reason but original ps2 cd games work fine.
LK_Cross_E2 =
LK_Cross_E3 =
LK_Square_E1 =
LK_Square_E2 =
LK_Square_E3 =
LK_Triangle_E1 = mass:/XPL/XPL_HDTV.ELF - This the cracked Xploder HDTV Player elf you'll find it on the net with enough google searching ;-)

LK_Right_E1 =
LK_Right_E2 =
LK_Right_E3 =
LK_Start_E1 = mc?:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF "This is ULaunch"
LK_Start_E2 =

LK_Select_E2 =
LK_Select_E3 =

Ok once you've done that insert an original ps2 dvd game into the tray "it has to be the same region as the backup you want to play" and reboot your ps2 hold down Triangle until HDTV starts, press the eject button and swap it your dvd-v backup, setup the display mode you want and press start it'll intercept LK_Auto_E1 and start ESR it takes a while start though ;)
the same method works with the swap magic v3.8 elf but you don't have to insert an original disc.

i cant seem to get access to the PS1DRV or dvd.elf through the free mc configurator. I can only access things on my memory cards or through the usb drive. Sorry for being a pain

Edit FREEMCB.CNF in Wordpad or ULaunch's text editor that's what I did it's located in mc?:/FMCB-CNF/FREEMCB.CNF if you edit it in Wordpad just copy it to your usb stick then use ULaunch to copy it into the mc?:/FMCB-CNF folder.

ive changed all the files to match yours and now i get an error when i try to restore the elf files onto my memor32. I have all my elf files in my BOOT folder. I keep getting an error saying that an error occured when transfering savegame BOOT. I also changed the stuff listed as mass to mc0 in wordpad.

What folders and files are currently on your memory card?
You shouldn't have to put any elf files back onto the memory card
if you already have

mc?:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF = ULaunch
mc?/B?EXEC-SYSTEM/osdmain.elf = Free McBoot
mc?:/FMCB-CNF/FREEMCB.CNF

If you can't copy ULaunch to your Memory card
change mc?:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF to read
mass:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
and have ULaunch boot off your USB stick instead by holding down Start when the PS2 boots.

LK_Circle_E1 = PS1DRV "This is the Playstation Driver"
LK_Cross_E1 = erom0: DVDELF

WTF??

What is that about? I don't get it, what is the PS1DRV command for? And the other one?
That is not explained in the manual! :O
