Make a folder in your USB and name it BOOT inside of this folder you will add
the BOOT.ELF from any of the ULauncher you have download insert your pen-drive first on the ps2. power your ps2 you'll see know your launcher is now Booting from the USB.

Everyone can help you better if you say what kind of ps2 you have.

Version /model? of Ps2?
What mcboot are you using? Version?

And you still get a black screen
do you know if your USB is compatible?

i,m using v1.4 of mcboot not v1.4b
my usb is compatible as i can boot sms from it

after i updated to freemcboot 1.4b i can't use it or run any game backup or original last thing i was trying to boot uluanchelf from mass the CD start spining faster then usual so i turned off the ps2 and took out the memory card and now i can't do anything i can get as far as the browser and that about it any suggest tings i deleted freemcboot in attempt to run the games

well since your getting to the browser, i agree that fmcb is indeed gone form your card
but if originals are no longer working, i would suspect your that your laser has work out or something similar.
you may want to start by giving the lens a thurough cleaning and trying originals again.

Some alcohol and a q-tip does wonders.

Does it even recognize when there's a disc in the drive and what type? (psx, etc)

Since your question does not really concern uLaunchELF (aka: uLE), but rather the project "Free McBoot" (aka: FMCB), I suggest that you restate your problem in the forum dedicated to that project. You will find it under the name "FreeVAST", which is an older name of the project.

When you do this you should remember to describe exactly what version of the installer you used and how you went through the installation, including your choices for any variable options. Note that some versions of the FMCB bootloader do not include any USB support, so that might explain your problem.

when i enter i cd it spin it 3times but only activate the laser once then it stops
when i enter a dvd the laser get activated once but keep spinning when i go to browser it says reading disc and only dvds spin and laser get activated in CD case it doesn't but in both cases the disc does not get detected

zer0xx: well.. afaik, FreeMCBoot wouldn't write nothing in your ps2 bios if it's that what you're thinking.
With that said.. only one thing can get actually 'updated' and it's your nvram settings.
Boot to your browser, then go to options, then turn on "Diagnostics" and put a dvd or cd (original of course) in your drive and then see what happens. If it still fail to read the disc, turn the PS2 off again... go to the browser do the same thing over and over. (3 times should be good). That should fix any issue with your laser calibration in nvram.
If after that your PS2 still can't read discs, it's prolly your laser that coincidently weared out. Good luck.
Oh, make sure to post your results as it can be useful to other users in the same boat (if ever)

i got FreeMcBoot on my friends ps2 and it works
i used his ps2 through AR Max to get into uLaunchELF copy his freemcboot into
my memorycard then replacing osdmain.elf with my one that i had backed up on
my USB hard drive and it works i can get into sms and it shows that usb is
plugged in but no the cd or dvd i think my laser is dead but i can still watch
movies i even tried cogswap to boot original games and it doesn't work it doesn't
matter i,m getting a new one next mouth as i,m going to my home
county(Bahrain)
(OFF TOPIC:I live in ireland as my dad
work here and my mom started working here) and get a chipped one for 160€
with 10games 2gamepad and 2memorycards.

I don't know what the problem was but it is working now the uncompressed version i didn't try the compressed after that worked

use 1.4b, that what I suggest.

the problem was that uLE took 2mins to load so i didn't wait for that long
and problem solved after turning off disc control

how do i know that my laser is dead apart of that games not working
because when i got to the browser i can see my laser glowing and
what i noticed is that the laser doesn't move much it only goes 15%
of the way up and comes down and stays there.
unlike my friend ps2 where the laser is jumping up and down.
i can run elf as i have FreeMcBoot.

i should be able to boot backup and original but out of no where my ps2
stopped booting both but lucky my i had FreeMCBoot installed on my memory card i found out that i can boot original through uLE Browser and codebreaker
but it takes 2 mins for uLE to get me into the disc to boot it same with codebreaker but once the game start it plays flawless

I'm about to merge every single thread you've made into one so that someone might be able to figure out what your exact problem is. I sure as hell can't figure it out from the number of threads you have that releate to each other.
