Hi all,
I have been using MEMOR32. Since the compatibility has not been satisfactory, I mostly use it to boot Swap Magic elf. Now I have a whole batch of soon-to-be-obsoleted MEMENTO patched discs. Anyways...

Just found out MC Boot(Free Vast) few days ago, decided to switch to it. I went out to get a Datel card(32MB) from a local store but found out it is an old version. It is the one that come with a mini CD boot disc. Heard many bad things about it:
- Required to load a boot disc every time
- Does not work with Slim PS2
- Can not save pass 10MB
- Corrupt data

I have a few questions that I can not find the answer from old posts:
- Is this card compatible with MC Boot?
- If I flash it with MC Boot, do I still need to use the boot CD?
- If this card is not compatible, do you think I can send it back to Intec to exchange for a new version?

Sorry, I didn't read the post of "compatible cards" thread carefully enough.
Now I know this card is not compatible.

My only question is whether Intec will take back this card...

Don't think of the discs as obsolete just because Free McBoot is likely to push memor32 off the market. Memento-patched discs are sufficiently similar to pure game discs that they also work with some mod-chips, such as the DMS4. And perhaps some homebrew software will come later, making use of the same DVD-Video trick compatibly to your existing discs.

No. You will need another card with proper MagicGate implementation/emulation.
All modern Datel cards have it, and some from other manufacturers too.

- If this card is not compatible, do you think I can send it back to Intec to exchange for a new version?
I'm afraid that's very doubtful. The product works, within its own limitations, doesn't it ? So then you can't even demand replacement on grounds of malfunction, which is one of the few arguments they would be likely to accept.

as somebody said (perhaps is was Lukasz (from lukasz.dk)) old datel cards are not replaced if they don't work as advertised.

this applied to memory plus cards with on-card save manager. if the card came without one it was replaced, provided it was new enough.

Thanks for the replys!

I send an e-mail to Intec anyways to give it a try. Although chance is not high. Also the postage back-and-forth may already worth more than the price of the card. Just don't feel too good buying something I may not use at all.

Meanwhile, I went out to buy an official Sony 8MB. Will continue the MSBoot experiment.
