We'll first I have a noob questions. I haven't really hear anything about this until bootlegninja told me about this from another site.(Thanx for that man).
Know will this allow me to play backups of my ps1 games also?I'm pretty sure that this will allow you to play ps2 backups lol.
Ok We'll now can someone please te'll me how I can install this on my ps2 slim with swapmagic. I was told I can do this. Is it possible that I can burn the Free MC boot onto a disc? That's why I could do this with swap magic? I will really appreciate if someone can make me a tut about this. If its even possible.
Also this has nothing to do with FreeVast but can I do this with the free version of memor32 and a memento firmware?
Please help

Already posted at Exploitstation on this.
It won't run the memento firmware. Just download CDGEN for ps2 and look at a disc building tutorial. that will be all you need along with swapmagic to get homebrew up and going on your ps2.

Alright so I download cdgen for ps2 along with CDVD.IRX, EXPINST.ELF, SYSTEM.CNF, TITLE.DB, DUMMY.DAT.
I burn't that onto a disc using dvd decrypter at a burning speed of 4X.I loaded swap magic inserted the exploiting disc I made (I had my 8mb magic gate memory card pluged in) and it said on the top right corner:
code: sjeep
And a guys name..I forgot who.
And in the midle of the screen it said instaling : CDVD.IRX, EXPINST.ELF, SYSTEM.CNF, TITLE.DB, DUMMY.DAT. but one at a time not sure if it was all of them.
Know what do I do since I got exploit on memory card?
oh yeah I got all this stuff from :
http://www.mikestyle.com/tutorials/exploit.htm
thanx for you time

from your original topic at ES, you have a v16. the independence exploit will NOT work with any slim ps2.
I've already mentioned that there. Please keep up.
Now, I've just writen a tutorial on how to build a CD

I've download the tut of "Free OSDatel install package 1.0 BETA" from:
http://psx-scene.com/forums/freevast/58248-tutorial-free-osdatel-installation-for-1-0-and-1-1-a.html
Instead of using a usb stick can I make a cd for it?
Will that allow me to run backups?
If not can someone make me a tut on how to make an exploit or whatever it is on my ps2 to load my ps1 and ps2 backups?
(bootlegninja i've read your tut that you posted a link to..will that cd make the exploit or..? Because it says "How to make a ps2 format disc" so I am guessing it won't.)

This is just to install Free MC Boot. I'm not even going to get into booting backups with it or swapmagic since it's pretty much common sense.
And you can't play ps1 backups with swapmagic.
Also, most of your questions could have already been answered by yourself by attempting to do a bit of searching and experimenting.

PSX-Loader is the word you should searching for.

We'll like the title says, I need someone who knows how to put Free MC Boot v1.2c on a cd-r.
I got Swap Magic 3.6 to boot up the burnt disc. I tried making one but it din't work :s
Do I still need ulaunchELF or just the Free MC Boot?
And If anyone knows this, what files do I need to play backup games, mostly ps1 backups.
I have cdgenps2 to make the img file and dvd decrypter to burn it.

Dude, please stop creating multiple threads on the same topic. I've asked you once at Exploitstation. This will be the last time I ask. Also, your threads here have been merged into one.
Any more topics you create on this will be deleted. Also, did you even bother to read the tutorial I wrote last night for you? it explains how to create a disc you can boot with swapmagic. Please get with the program and read.
At this point, I will stop spoon feeding information to you since 99.9% of what you have been told can easily be found using the search function in the forums or using google.

Bootlegninja was not talking only about global google searches on the entire Internet, but also of local searches in the forums of this site, to be done either by manually reading through the relevant threads, or by using the search commands of the forum software (though they take some getting used to).
Since this site is the home site of FreeVAST, or "Free McBoot" as it has now been renamed, you are far more likely to find what you need here than elsewhere.

This is exactly What I did with swapmagic 3.6 and it works great.
1 format a usb flashdrive to either fat or fat 32
2 open your flashdrive and on root create a folder called SWAPMAGIC make sure it is all caplocks
3 copy your mcboot elf into the SWAPMAGIC folder and rename it to SWAPMAGIC.ELF all caps again.
4 insert your usb flashdrive into ps2 and make sure your memory card is inserted in slot 1
5 insert swapmagic 3.6 dvd or cd and turn on ps2 and it will autoload the mcboot installer.
6 just follow the on screen directions.

Here, this is a ready to burn ps2 mcboot 1.2 bin/cue image for swapmagic
Just plug your memory card into slot 1 and load your 3.6 swapmagic cd and swap with this disc and it will boot up. I just tested it so it should work for you
you really should listen to bootlegninja and dlanor. Do research and read as much as you need to before you ask for help.

hey man thanx for your time but that didn't work.
I downloadted and unrared the .rar file you posted then I opened up dvd decrypter, click mode --->iso--->wright
clicked verify then
found the free mc boot .bin file then burn't it at a speed of 4X.
Had ps2 memory card in slot 1, loaded swap magic 3.6 with some problems.. it took a few tries in order for it to work. then finally inserted the cd-r that I made with the mc boot on it, and it didn't work. Any ideas... yes I have searched around, i'm going to try buring it with ashampoo burning studio 7. Will post to see how it worked.
1st you must preboot any game you want to swap with original-Disc on boot-up, to get TOC.
If this didn't work, try to open the CUE-File instead.
If DVD-Decrypter won't, use another app.
tvain
06-01-2008, 02:12 PM
Won't swapmagic be getting the TOC?
DVD-Decrypter only burns the .bin file not the .cue
Ashampoo Burning Studio 7 will only burn the .cue
So If I burn the .bin then open up Ashampoo and burn the .cue will that do the trick?
Is it necessary to have a .cue to make a ps2 disc?
1. Some burning-apps don't get Sector-Structure, or Disc-Type from binary images. Some need the CUE.
2. Swap-Magic is only a software.
It will get the TOC of every inserted Original-PS2Game-CD/DVD, which is in drive.
So if you boot SM from CD, it should work.
Else, if you boot a burned CD through SM with no disc in drive (without doing the slide-trick), or even if your SM-Boot-Disc is a DVD, it'll not work.
3. Did you burn CUE-BIN as files to your CD?
It is an image, which must be choosen to be opened.

what brand of cd-rs are you using? Are you using the swapmagic 3.6 cd? Like TnA said, pick the cue file when you burn it. I use imgburn it's free and it is basically an updated dvd decrypter.

I am using maxell cd-r (80 min,700mb)
I have swap magic3 plus USA Version 3.6
Swap Magic loads its just the disc i burnt that won't load
I am having trouble loading web sites don't know why...
Ill try to download imgburn
unclebob69
06-01-2008, 02:56 PM
maxells are kinda crappy media in my opinion have you loaded anything on your ps2 with those maxells and got it to work? If not the you probably need to get some higher quality cd-rs.
Is your Swap-Magic a CD, or not?
If not, it will not work, until you refresh your TOC with PS2-CD-TOC of an original PS2-Game.

yes I have burnt something with cd-r and it did load properley. I got a ps2 slim and didn't know that mc card exploit wouldn't on slim but it did load. Here is were I got that exploit from :
http://www.mikestyle.com/tutorials/exploit.htm
So I just need to make a new cd with just the mc boot 1.2.cue only nothing else on it? I wanna make sure before using another cd-r went through 6 of them already and got no were..
I also got memorex cd-rw but those aren't working with my d drive even its a cd-rw drive :s
PALGamer
06-01-2008, 03:40 PM
the .cue and .bin files are disc images, so they are prepared 'projects' that the dvd-burner needs to load, so u shouldn't open a new project and add these files, but try something like open iso or open projects or something like that...
unclebob69
06-01-2008, 03:43 PM
If your using imgburn, go to mode>write pick the cue and burn it at 4x
As I said in many posts in this Thread,...
THE BIN-CUE-FILES ARE AN IMAGE!!!
DON'T CREATE A NEW COMPILATION!!!
PRESS THIS BUTTON, IF IT IS AVAILABLE!!! ---> "OPEN IMAGE"

06-01-2008, 04:29 PM
alright so I clicked on that but now, I need to get the free mc boot so I clicked "Browse for file source" is this alright?
Still didn't work... I'm going to download nero to see if that will do the trick.
Do you know if MagicISO is better cuz I can download that.
unclebob69
06-01-2008, 04:31 PM
yes!!! that is right! now browse for the mc boot 1.2 cue file

06-01-2008, 04:39 PM
MagicISO is ok, but I don't like it.
tvain
06-01-2008, 04:42 PM
yes but nothing else is working...maybe it is my cdr's. I don't really wanna download nero :s
Why is it that I need the .cue file and not the .bin?
I explained that earlier.
Open the CUE with an Editor and you'll see. :P
tvain
06-01-2008, 04:48 PM
is my .cue file mest now?
Don't get me wrong, but please read some noob-tutorials. :D
If you don't do anything wrong, you maybe should try again other CD-Rs, or your CD-Diode is not in good condition.
You didn't used CD-RWs (as you mentioned wasted CDs).
tvain
06-01-2008, 05:18 PM
can't find any.. I can't access half the sites... internet it slow right now.
Anyways I downloaded Ashampoo Burning Studio 7.21
It has a function saying "Create/Burn Disc Images" ---> Burn a CD/DVD from a Disc Image
I clicked on it.. then browse, then got the .cue file
Will that ruin it or will this work like a charm?
tvain
06-01-2008, 05:41 PM

All these questions were already answered.
It just needs a little research.
1. AFAIK with the Installer, (nor?)
2. USB is the best method I think, or if you have a "Local Area Network", you could also use this.

So Can I add elf files with a cd-r?
Cuz I wanna add something called

Do a research!!!
As I already said, (1.) you have all you need (2.) we are not your personal life enhancer or however you wanna call us (3.) Free MCBoot comes with uLE!
No further info from my side. I'm going to sleep.

hey downloaded free mc boot v1.4 from the official boot release. Followed bootlegninja's guide on how to make a ps2 format disc and burnt it. Loaded up swapmagic 3.6 plus cd (obviously the original disc) then loaded up the free mc boot v1.4 disc I made. I get to the screen pressed x on dpad to install.
Then it says:
F2ee boot installer start l
Reading erom0: DVDPLA Done
Decrypting DVDELF Then it won't load it just stays there...
Any idea's?
I got a different version of free mc boot to load up and it works fine. Sorta I get to ulaunchelf screen but nothing won't really work. The only thing i coud get working is ps2 browser by taking out memory card then clicking on it. Nothing else works.. When I tried to turn disc control on it just freezes, when I click on ps2 disc it freezes...then I need to turn ps2 off and data gets corrupted. Then need to install again :(.....
Got a ps2 slim v16....79001
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is their a way to load a elf file on a memory card from a cd?

See if a buddy has an older ps2 like a fat one. use your swapmagic and free MC Boot installer disc on that one and install it on your MC. once done, you should be able to boot the mc on your v16

hey still can't install free MCboot 1.4b. We'll sorta.. It installs but when I load up ps2 with the memorycard inserted it just goes to the browser screen. It said it installed successfully but obviously it didn't. When I access my memory card the I can see the free mc boot icon, boot folder icon and a corrupted data icon also. I deleted the corrupted data icon and tried loading it again but it didn't work... I just got a red screen. I installed it using a cd-r by booting it with swapmagic 3.6. I got a ps2 magicgate 8mb memory card if that helps. Oh yeah like i said in previous reply's I got a ps2 slim 79001 apparently a v16.

get a usb thumbdrive and format it to FAT32.
create a folder on it called (case sensative) SWAPMAGIC
Rename the free MC Boot installer to SWAPMAGIC.ELF and place it inside the SWAPMAGIC folder.
create another folder on your usb stick called (case sensative) BOOT
Dowload uLaunchELF from here and extract the BOOT.ELF and copy it to the BOOT folder
plug the usb stick into your ps2 and boot your swapmagic disc.
the installer should boot now. Go ahead and install it.
reboot the system with the swapmagic disc out.

I started to help the original poster first and found out quickly that he does not read. This thread was originally about 5 or 6 seperate threads which I had to merge together. Since then numerous people have tried to help him, but it seems to be a lost cause since we can post easy to follow solutions all day long and he won't follow them. If he can't do that, what FAQ would do him any good? None.
Law of averages can also verify that some are just completely helpless.

We'll help everyone that ask for, but he never followed the instructions, so he never really wanted our help.
If someone wants to learn something new, I really like to help them.
Sharing knowledge is the only way, to "get in touch" with the whole truth.
No system will beat the knowledge, that is free (even if a system is so-called "democratic" or not. They ALL share his false information, to struggle the people and force their thinkin into one way.).

Hey. When i follow with this points and everything goes good my game copy will be work?
Not quite, but almost. In order to run game backup discs you'll also need the ESR utility, available in another thread of this forum. And you will also need to patch the backup ISOs using the memento patch utility before burning the discs. You can then start such a game disc in the PS2 tray simply by using uLaunchELF to launch the ESR elf.

Well that means, then I have normal burned copy, it will not act?
That is correct. A normal burned copy will be in a DVD-ROM format that the mechacon (a processor in the CDVD reader) will allow reading only from a factory-pressed disc, but not from a home-burned disc.
I must always patching game and then burn it?
Yes, because the patch makes the mechacon believe that the game disc is in DVD-Video format, for which reading is allowed even from home-burned DVD-R discs.

Going to my buddy's house tonight to install it. He has a fat one not sure what version but it should work...Why is it that Free MC Boot v1.4b doesn't work with the 79001's? Is it because of the DVDELF thing? That should of gotten fixed in the latest release. What if I can find a different DVDELF to get injected would it work after on my slim after. After getting the FREE MC Boot installed from a friend's ps2, will I be able to use cog-swap from my ps2 or will it not work. Because I've already tried cogswap.ELF and tried unblocking and blocking back up the front right sensor and it didn't work. So getting it installed from a different ps2 fix this or is it that $0nie plugged this glitch up?

It will work on a 79001, but for some reason it won't install on a MC on a 79001. At this moment, I can't even seem to get the installer to launch on my v10 (scph-50001)
I know for fact that it will boot on my v7 (scph-39001) and 4 (scph-30001).
Wait for 1.4c.
It is VERY user-friendly, while full of features in my opinion.
Even Installer, loader and pre-configured install.
Try 1.4c, when it's ready and your fine.
Thought, this time you will get it work.
Needs less knowledge.
