First post here so bear with me guys.
Have chipped a few ps2 now, but I got a call the other day from a freind saying his will not play any DVD movies.
I seem to remember that there was a thing about playing a movie before chipping a ps2, coz ifu dont the region will not get set.
Is this right ?
If it is anyone know if I cut the power to the elvis chip will it let me boot and run a film or am I gonna have to remove the whole thing, then re-chip it :arg:

You have to double tap the reset button after you turn the power on (like a ps1 game) for DVD movies to play. If you knew this already excuuse me.

... and if it's an import movie, he'll need to boot up AR2/v2 with the double reset method and swap in the import.

Thanx guys,
if only it were that easy, its not an import DVD so should work fine, also already tried the double tap, still has no effect.
I am pretty sure that is coz no movie was played before it was chipped.
Dohhhhhh We all learn from our mistakes I suppose, but what a pain in the arse :)

Thats one thing I dont know at the moment, Hopefully he is gonna bring it over to me in a couple of days so I can check it out.
Just trying to get some ideas before I go opening it up again and de-soldering the mod :arg:

If the Messiah (Elvis) plays PS1 hames with the double tap method, there is no need to de-install the mod. The pass through of the DVD to the PS2 through the double tap signal is assured.
The usual reason a DVD movie won't play is that the configuration settings and DVD BIOS were lost during the install and they need restoring. The DVD BIOS might need to be restored from the remote handset disk.

I believe I've read somewhere that disconnecting the on-board battery and then reconnecting it sometimes resets the the internal CMOS andmay cure the problem.
You could also try deleting the system configuration on the memory card and then re-initializing it.
Just a few other options to try...
