I have updated my PS3 to Firmware v1.32 but my PS3 YDL 5.0 Linux cannot detect any disks(CD/DVD/Blu-Ray) mounted on the drive. The CD/DVD drive become offline mode. The most important is the command "dd" is unusable now. I cannot transfer my BD-ROM games to Hard Disk now.
Anybody knows how to use "dd" command again. I tried /dev/cdrom, /dev/scd0, ... ? Any ideas?

lol... thats interesting. It figures they would "fix" that. Interestingly enough mine hasn't gotten an update since .30. btw... you say "mounted on the drive"... you know you shouldn't have things mounted when you do "dd". Though... it shouldn't matter on a CD anyway but it still might give a warning/error. Also, if you can mount them normally with a block device file I would think you could also do a "dd" because all it does is read from the block device file similar to if it were mounted(I think I could be wrong about this one though).

The "dd" command works for me on Firmware 1.32, but I already had my PS3 updated to 1.32 before I installed YDL. It might be a pain, but installing YDL again could probably fix that problem.

ThX! I will try to re-install again. But, do you know where to find the latest YDL? I am using phoenix 20061127 version only and cannot be updated through Linux.

This isn't windos, if you haven't messed with the system (i.e. deleted system files) reinstallation isn't necessary. (=

Have you tried "dd" with your user or with root? BTW, root usage should be used only to install/remove/configure packages, following this simple advice your installation can last years, but that depends on your distribution quality, and i've a very low consideration on RPM based distributions. (=

So, to avoid root usage, try adding your user to the "cdrom" group (see the "addgroup" and "groups" commands), or the group your DVD/Bluray belongs...
