Hey there!

I bought my PS3 today, and it was pretty easy to get one tho.
Just walked into Gamespot and got one on the fly, no questions asked!!!

But the thing is this, should i update the firmware or should i wait?
The PS3 shipped with the 1.10 firmware, which i assume, is the first one.

I wouldn't want to update it and turn out to be a total flaw!
Just like with PSP users who updated their system and weren't able to boot
homebrew anymore. But that's the past now...

Anyways, hit me up with some answers.

Laters!

It came with 1.0 firmware on mine.... I updated I think the hack is coming thru Linux anyways, only time can tell but one thing is for sure, you have to update to play ANY games.

Thanks for your answer BOF.

Speaking of Linux; which distro do you have?
Fedora Core 5 or Yellowdog?

I'm trying to decide which one should i install...
For what i've read, Yellowdog is not capable of dumping BD ISOs.
Although, it seems to have better compatibilty with the PS3.

On the other hand, Fedora Core seems to be able to handle quite well
with the PS3, and capable of doing other things as well.

I wonder if the Yellowdog is a "streamlined" version of a distro, only
capable of doing things such as: Internet browsing, messaging, etc...
rather than a "full" distro like the other ones out there.

Later.

It's safe to update, I've recently updated to 1.31, no problems infact these updates keep fixing things.
