I was wondering since you can install any OS that runs on a Power PC Processor (Which is mainly just Linux for now). Would it be possible to recompile the Xbox Media Center and its emulators for use on the Playstation 3? They already have all their source code online and compilers are about a dime a dozen now adays. And unlike the Xbox Developers Kit any Power PC compiler should work.

Except for the fact that xbmc is specifically written for MSVC .net AND requires the xbox sdk libraries, neither of which cost 1/12th of a dime and neither of which were designed to be ported across architectures. You can't just take any source code and plug it into another different compiler, click build, and get a nice little executable. It would need to be, at best, touched up. And in worst case, rewritten.
One thing that I can't understand is why you would do this? XBMC is mostly built on Mplayer. Porting mplayer to ps3 linux and writing an interface would make alot more sense.

Not sure I entirely understand this question. XBMC does NOT have emulators.
In short, nice thought, but no.

I know the source code would have to be touched up atleast alittle. And the emulators for XBMC are all mainly just ports of existing PC emulators. But I figured it would be somewhat do able. I wouldnt think it would require some massive rewrite or anything like that. The XDK is mainly based in C++ anyways. But I am no expert. If it cant be done, oh well. I was just hoping I could.
