I would assume this is possible, seeing as it works on a ps2 (for some games). What I was wanting to know is if anyone has tried the VGA adapter that came with the ps2 linux kit or the one from Blaze. If so, will it do full 1080p? My monitor supports sync on green and can go higher resolution than 1080p, so I would be very interested in using it for ps3 gaming. Thanks for your time and help.

For anyone who can test this out, could you also please include results for 480p mode and PS2 games in VGA? It would be fantastic to see if the 512x448 games can be displayed in full screen at 640x480.

Maybe it's a stupid idea, but I've seen HDMI->DVI converters and we all know the DVI->VGA converters that come with newer videocards for the pc. Maybe it's possible to use 2 converters to convert the HDMI signal to VGA? Or will there be a resolution problem?

Maybe it's possible to use 2 converters to convert the HDMI signal to VGA?Nope. The DVI -> VGA converters for video cards aren't really converters, just connector adapters. The DVI connectors on (most) video cards carry both VGA and DVI signals, and the adapter just brings the VGA signal out to a VGA connector. HDMI only has the digital signal, so there's no VGA signal to route.

The problem is the PS3 doesn't have a VGA option under Display Selection.
The closest option that works with that Sony VGA cable is the RGB Scart, unfortunately that option only offers 480p max.
In other words, it is capable of outputting RGB Signal but the option of HD is not there, I hope a future firmware update offers it.

I found this for only 30 bucks and it will switch between your computer and your console at the push of a button. This one is especially nice since it allows for xbox, game cube and PS2/PS3 on the same box. Buy it from this site if you guys like it. I did see a few other ones out there when i was searching... They all averaged at about 25 bucks.
