To whom it may concern,
I have InfoGB ver 2 done by dkal [I most likely have the name wrong]
Anyway I load the elf, it didn't work then I made a Game Directory as specfied by the author then the emulator starts, I found I could put a romlist.txt file in the same directory as my elf, and it would show all the roms in the list. Now my problem is when I selct one in the list it just goes to a Black screen. I am running this off my Hdd, the Rom files are in the same directory, the format in my romlist.txt file just shows the name do I have to specified a path to the Rom and if so how?.
Hope someone can help I am using a PAL system. In Australia.
Thanks.

You probably do have it wrong, as I never heard of a programmer called "dkal", and if he had worked on this project I should know about it.

The original version of InfoGBas well as the ones I've revised do not cater for ROMS's stored on HDD, they want to find ROMs either on CD or on MC. My versions don't really care where they start from, but only CD or MC is recommended. To run the emulator from HDD, you can start by making a bootable CD, and verify that this works as-is. Then you can install that CD image for HDLoader and launch it as you would a regular PS2 game under HDL. If you are using my versions then I recommend that you get rid of the romlist.txt file.
There is also another version available, made by Kaylakaze. She has adapted the program to load roms from a normal homebrew PFS partition on HDD, like I assume you tried to do with the other versions, so perhaps her version is a better choice for you. Again, it is not recommended to use any romlist.txt with that version either.
The romlist.txt file was originally invented to avoid having to add a working browser to the program. Now that such browsing does work, the romlist.txt file should not be used anymore.

Hi,
I am trying to get your version InfoGB_dlanor_rev2.zip working on my Ps2,
I did get that lady's version you mention 1.1 HD version but it would not read .gbc extensions.
Any way I want to get your version working, this is what I have done I made
the directory that is needed on the MC first, then I launched via ulaunch the elf, from my hard drive and got the first Blue screen saying please hit start hit start then just a white screen, so I read something about the romlist.txt file so I put one in and I got the items, but when I choose the item hit X
I got a Black screen.
So at this time I thought I try it from the Memory Card, I put the elf and roms
on the memory card I launched the elf via ulanch and got the first Blue screen
and I hit start and just got a white screen, so I put the romlist.txt file but I didn't even get the list this time.
So is the elf I using maybe bad? can you please give me a link to your latest
or know working version of yours so at least I know I am using a good Source just in case.
Maybe the files Roms need to be in a specfic directory structor, and maybe
you can tell me what structure you use just to double check?
Now I used the romlist.txt file for two reasons, the first I didn't get a browser
and second I have kids who would like to use the emulator, and just selcting via arrows and hitting X sounded easy, but if that is not possible o.k.,
But if it is how?
But I still need to get to a browser option so I may select a rom, any ideas why I would not get a browser?? How can I fix this??
Or do all roms have to be on a CD filesystem, even so if I can Lanch on mc or hdd should I not get a browser to choose a cdfs if that was the case??
Now do I need some sytem.cnf file to make this work??
I am currently using a Pal Ps2 via MC exploit, I have been trying top get this working for the last three Weeks, I have read hundreds of threads and posts on serval forums. Can you plaese Help me dlanor.
Regards....THankyou very much waiting for your next response

Hi,
I am trying to get your version InfoGB_dlanor_rev2.zip working on my Ps2,
I did get that lady's version you mention 1.1 HD version but it would not read .gbc extensions.
Any way I want to get your version working, this is what I have done I made

Like I've said before, I regard the 'romlist.txt' usage an obsolete remnant from the time before a proper MC/CD browser was added. Although the list can be displayed when included with the ELF on HDD, that does NOT mean that you can safely load ROMs that way too. This entire usage should be dropped in favor of using the real CD/MC browsers, which may eventually be extended to deal with other devices as well. (HDD/USB).
So is the elf I using maybe bad? can you please give me a link to your latest
or know working version of yours so at least I know I am using a good Source just in case.
I'm attaching my latest lab version to this post.
Maybe the files Roms need to be in a specfic directory structor, and maybe you can tell me what structure you use just to double check?
No special structure is required, except that normally used on an MC.
In other words:
Some containing folder must be used for the ROMs, and no subfolders should be used within that containing folder. But you may have any number of ROM folders in the root. That's entirely up to you. And this applies both to MC and to CD.
Now I used the romlist.txt file for two reasons, the first I didn't get a browser and second I have kids who would like to use the emulator, and just selcting via arrows and hitting X sounded easy, but if that is not possible o.k.,
But if it is how?
To make that work properly, regardless of launch media, I'd have to code entirely new support routines for 'romlist.txt', which I'm simply not going to do.
But I still need to get to a browser option so I may select a rom, any ideas why I would not get a browser??
Not really, unless you used no memory card, or a freshly formatted one. If you have any memory card inserted, and it contains any folder at all, regardless of its content, then you should get a browser.
How can I fix this??
Using an MC should be enough...
Or do all roms have to be on a CD filesystem,
No. MC is also a valid place for ROM files.
even so if I can Lanch on mc or hdd should I not get a browser to choose a cdfs if that was the case??
Yes, you should get a browser regardless of the launch media, except if you made the mistake of including a 'romlixt.txt' file, in which case an attempt will be made to use that instead. And if that attempt fails, then you'll get nothing...
Now do I need some sytem.cnf file to make this work??
You will never need any such file to satisfy this emulator. But you may occasionally need a file named "SYSTEM.CNF", in order to make self booting discs. However, since you apparently have no mod-chip, that is not really a useful thing for you to do (except possibly for running homebrew apps as HDL isos). In any case, InfoGB itself has no need for any "SYSTEM.CNF".
Also, if you save InfoGB config settings from its menu, those will be stored as "mc0:/PS2GB/INFOGB.CNF".
I am currently using a Pal Ps2 via MC exploit, I have been trying top get this working for the last three Weeks, I have read hundreds of threads and posts on serval forums. Can you plaese Help me dlanor.
I'm not sure, as I don't see what your problem is. For me it works fine.
As always with the exploit, you should use it to launch the most compatible and stable launching program you can find (IMHO uLaunchELF). Installing whatever game/emu program you want to run for direct exploit launch is a very bad idea, as many of them will be incompatible with the standard exploit. Instead use a generic launcher, and use that to launch any other program you want. That being said and done, any incompatibility due to the exploit should be eliminated.
NB: This lab version still has some issues with relaunching uLE, so don't be surprised if that doesn't always works right. (I've never had that 100% reliable with InfoGB.)
Btw:
I always read PMs last, after reading all new posts in all forums that I have any interest in, so trying to get a quicker response through PM is a doomed cause in my case. It simply doesn't work. It is a pretty good way to irritate me however, as there is a limit to the number of PMs stored, and I just hate to check in here and find that limit exceeded... So please do as I asked you before, and keep normal queries in the public forums.
You're welcome to use PMs too, for questions that warrant it, but not for general debugging issues. Such things should be kept public so that anyone else with similar problems may also benefit from posted solutions.
