DVD region 1 playing in black and white only

Hi all I have just bought a PS2 with infinity modchip 1.80 or something similar from Germany and I tried yesterday to watch a movie from the states so region 1. I can only see it in black and white. Can this be changed somehow? I am totally new and up to now I have only been playing around with my PSP then decided to get into the PS2...

hold triangle & circle on reboot; when you see the config menu choose NTSC from the "PS2 SCREEN FIX" then go to "DVDVIDEO REGION" choose #1 press start and reboot (when asked), you probably have a pal console and your tv is ntsc so it results in a B&W picture...

HI I will try. I think you are right. Thing is that I am Italian and in Italy and rest of Europe now that you say so Pal is used...while here in the UK NTSC is the standard. Thanks for the suggestion.
