View Full Version : error parsing XML GUI

I've got myPS2 installed in a partition on my HDD. I'm loading it from launchelf and it always gives an error parsing the XML GUI (I don't have the exact error in front of my right now).

This error happens right after the message about parsing the XML GUI that might take a while.

I am using the default skin that comes in the 1.1 zip. I haven't made any modifications and I've double checked to ensure that the files FTP'd properly, and they appear to have.

I've been using execftp to transfer the files, and it's got a bit of a weird bug listing files in hdd0, and sometimes seems to lose a partition once I mount it to pfs, so this could be related to problems transfering the files, but again my files look good so not sure what's up?

Anybody else with similar trouble with an idea? I've tried deleting and reuploading all the files but no luck there either.

Thanks!

This might have nothing to do with your problem (solution wise), but here's what caused myPS2 to the give same error. I had the app installed on MC0://SWAPMAGIC/MYPS2/.. any time I tried to upload the files directly to the folder either throught EXECFTP or MYPS2FTPD, it would say that the upload had completed successfully, but when trying to start the application, I would get the same error, over and over. The only way I was able to fix the issue was to drop the APP under MC0://MYPS2/.. and to create every folder in advance.

Hope this might help.

I get something very similar when trying to run from HDD. Mine fails at
Loading GUI String Table...FAILED
Works fine from MC & MASS

I just tried from mass: but I get an error loading the GUI XML (different error, this is not a parse error) and I noticed it didn't pick up my IP settings so it must be loading from defaults...

I've now spent 3 days trying to get this to load. 0.5 used to load no problem. I'm now trying to delete my +MYPS2 partition but I can't delete it in any application PS2OS, PS2FORMAT, PS2MENU-K...

It's give up time unless anybody has suggestions on how to get it working from mass: as I don't have room on my mc0:

I unmount and then disconnect, but like I said there's a bug listing the HDD it downloads the filelist forever so I have to stop it at about 3,000KB and then disconnect and reconnect and the list shows up. If I let it go for longer it shows me duplicates of everything. I have a 160GB drive though with 145GB used up.

I'll try the launchelf ftp, didn't know it had one!

I have the "Loading GUI String Table...FAILED" error, anyone have the solution?

mine myps2 worked fine until i renamed it to boot.elf. now i get the same error as you.
you all can see my problem here? i renamed launchelf to launchelf.elf
and myps2 to boot.elf in the __boot dir... so im stucked. hopfuly i got some old launchelf on memcard as boot.elf so i can run devmode 1.

But the clue is renaming of the myps2 elf file... did you do it?

I´d renamed MYPS2.ELF to BOOT.ELF and returned the same error. So that isn´t the solution. Any more suggestion?

I've since managed to sort mine. I think my old DOS version of RAR was corrupting the archive. After downloading and extracting with WINRAR it now starts up.

However, I can't connect to Shoutcast but I've just copied over my Winamp bookmarks file to the Shoutcast folder and that works fine.

Why not set LaunchELF to load it Default; default time 1 sec

how do you do that? is that a new feature? i got ver S and i cant find any settings for default loading... anyway its not that important, I decied to stay with Ulaunchelf because its way more stable than myps2, but when it get more stable i will try it again, i like the gui, but function first as the ulaunchelf programers use to say :)

I actually haven't tried loading from MC, just from HDD and MASS... I have a partition for elfs on my HDD and it gave me that same error whether I was on HDD or MASS.

I have another problem now that I can't even delete the folder from the partition on my HDD. It will delete everything except the deepest folders and when I try to delete those files my partition disappears from PFS and I have to mount it again.

I've given up on trying to fix this now, I'll just wait for a newer version, redownload and start from scratch. It's almost certainly some corrupted file or bad FTP transfer causing my grief.

Heya there, I had the same problem just after I fixed my HDD mounting error (errno -2) anyways you're probably after my solution...

What's Causing It? It's caused by incorrectly formatted line endings within your CONFIG.DAT file, I'm guessing that most of you (about 90%) are running Windows and you're using either Notepad or Wordpad to edit your config.

Solution: Switch to a better text editor, get Notepad 2 (Link (http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html)) goto File > Line Endings > Unix (LF). Be sure to add an extra blank line at the end. I've found it helps.

Still Having Problems? If your still having problems, then get in touch, send me a private message with your config file, I'll fix it for you and send it back.

Can someone help me straighten out this config.dat file?

It's for MyPS2 v 1.2 and I'm trying to get it to run from mc0://BADATA-SYSTEM using the independence exploit. I use Notepad2 to edit. Currently I get the "error parsing xml gui files" crash.
Thanks!
