First time DMS4 SE Lite ? RSOD V14, GH-37 !???

I got this chip for a V14, fist time for me with any DMS, I am an experienced Modder with the cheaper MODS and they never give me much trouble.

Install and test and all I get is RSOD with any backups. Original boots but goes to browser first? Then I find out on a forum that you must flash with toxicBIOS to be able to boot backups ??? What ???? Is this right ???

First of all, you think that it might be nice for these suppliers to maybe, perhaps mention somewhere that these need to be flashed to boot backups!? I installed this chip and all I get with any burned CD or DVD is RSOD. Pressing square does give me disable screen so I know the chip is somewhat functional here...

So I burn the ToxicBIOS bin and of course I still get RSOD when I put it in so is my install bad or what? Double checked all my connections, of course. So is this chip supposed to boot out of the package or freaking what!!!!??????

I didnt think the SE needed flashing for v14, you only have to flash the standard chips and they have to be done through dev mode on memory card

you could be right loy, I havent used an se yet but have one coming in next week so will find out I guess.
so as I was saying if it does need flashing then you need to get the attached program on memory card via another chipped ps2 and then boot in dev mode

download the file
burn it to cd
put in chipped ps2 (another one that will read burnt cd)
put memory card in
boot cd and follow onscreen instructions, it will put it on MC automatically
now put MC in V14
turn on and hold triangle, toxic bios flash will load from MC and you flash chip
easy

I Put the CD in my V7 PS2 and all it says is "DMS4 Hardware not found"

not sure why its not working I put it on my MC but maybe I did something different, do you know how to boot elf files and run launchelf etc

if its one of the first batches of se then you need to put your toxic bios cd and hold select on your v14 while booting. this should force it to boot the bios cd
if this doesnt work then i give up

You should make sure you downloaded the bios from the TOXIC website you need 1.4 If you download from DMS website it will just boot home brew. Just did a v14 with the new SE and had no problems. I can note that the pad labeling is kinda small and it may be hard to tell the differance between D and O on the board. And the W pad label is like sideways. Also you don't need V if you have NTSC. Why can't DMS label there connection points like the rest of the mod makers it makes things very confusing I must say.

I just did one in a v14 as well and no problems. Booted the toxic bios cd right off the bat. Are you sure you downloaded the toxic bios and not the toxic os. The os won't work with the lite chips and is for the pro chips only. The first DMS 4 I installed (I think it was an SE, it's the only ones I've bought), I had to flash with the dms firmware first from the main dms site and than run the toxic BIOS burned to a CD. Also make sure that you are burning the BIN/CUE files correctly and as stated above, make sure you have the points correct and the correct diagram for that motherboard revision. Other than that, I'm not sure.

I downloaded Toxic BIOS 1.4. I must have burned it properly because it boots up on my V7 and says Toxic bla bla bla? ?DMS4 hardware not found?

I?m still confused about this chip, is the DMS4 SE lite capable of booting something, anything, on CD straight out of the package or not? Without any flashing, what does this chip boot? If I hold select or triangle it goes to browser ?No Data? screen.

How can I verify it is installed properly? And is there an alternate Q point so it?s not so far away on the other side of the board.

I noticed the D is hard to distinguish from 0, D is under the N which is also very misleading, I would have assumed it was in fact the O if I didn?t notice it on the other end first.

I just created it for putting the flash on MC so boot in your V7 and it will say installing dms browser but its actually installing the flash to MC now put in V14 and hold triangle at boot
if this one doesnt work then I would say its an install problem or faulty chip

The earlier DMS's wouldn't boot anything I don't think unless you flashed the DMS flash from their site. This would enable you to boot HOMEBREW applications only. No backups. That is what the toxic bios is for, booting backups. As I said, I recall I had one chip where I had to burn and boot the DMS firmware first and than the Toxic Bios firmware and than all was good. The rest I have just had to run the Toxic Bios first so trying going to the DMS site and see if you can get the DMS firmware disc to boot first. That, or it's the install. I've had the odd where the wiring looks correct and everything is fine, even tested every point with the multimeter and still nothing. After a few days of pulling my hair out, I was going to remove the chip and redo it all and as soon as I touched one of the wires soldered to the chip, it snapped, I replaced that and all was fine. It tested ok on the multimeter but somehow it still didn't send the signal properly and the chip wouldn't boot.

download it again, I forgot to add the dat file to the rar, i burn it with burnatonce, its a free download. once you install burnatonce just double click the toc file and it will burn it

Thanks I?ll give it a try in a few days. I?m putting it on the back burner right now out of utter frustration. I completely removed the chip this morning after trying to flash from a USB drive as the DMS site claims possible. This poor PSTwo has been disassembled more than 6 times now.

Solder it in new location and flashed from Memory card and it still does the bloody RSOD!!! I give up!!!
