what sort of ps2 are you using. do you have a modchip? do you have a network adapter for it? have you got homebrew running on it yet?

if answer to Qs 3 and 4 are yes, then you need uLaunchELF and a CAT5 crossover cable. check the forums here.

if answer to Q3 is no, you can use a USB cable and naplink or similar.

if answer to Q4 is no, then fix it. no modchip? look up the "independence exploit" on google. doesnt work on slim models.

and next time, provide some more details when asking why the thingamajig doesnt work with the whatchamacallit.

Hi there NegerELF,

I can just offer the solutions that I have tried out myself, so here they go:

My Ps2 is a 75004 (slim) modded with a Crystal Chip v1.1. It allows the console to start apps (elfs) from any available media but it does need additional software for it. For HDs you need to run a HD-Loader first to be able to talk to them.

Depending on what your needs are you can either boot a CD with an ELF launcher like the program called LaunchELF and use that to run applications (from the CD or other media) or use it to start an FTP server (you'll need a network adapter on your ps2 though and of course the FTP-Server app, like execFTPS). Then you can connect to it with from your PC and get read/write access to the unit's available media. You could, for example, use it to copy custom boot files to the MC and let the PS2 run these whenever you start it (this is called an "mc exploit" because the MC is not designed to be used like that) . I will not go into any specific details here since I don't know what you are intending to do.

It is also possible to start a so-called HD-Loader to get acces to a harddrive. I have not tried this yet, so I can't help you there.

I hope this could help you out at least a little. I know how confusing this whole ps2 software can get. I myself had a great deal of work seeking through the mass of information to get what I needed.

I personally boot from a custom made boot CD kindly provided to me from a a user here. It automatically loads LaunchELF. I can load any ELF from there without a problem. I can also use it to transfer (copy) files from the CD to the MC or vice-versa.

If you need more help, please state a detailed description of your system and what exactly it is that you need. No-one will answer vague questions here.

Cheers,

Nek

Hmmm... is that a good or bad thing? Are you german?

Here's the link with the boot CD I use. The file is the one attached to one of the last posts of dungbeetle46. Check it out.

hey
What software writes from pc > mc?
The few i'v used write pc > p52hd.
LaunchELF writes from pc > mc, with properly set up networking.

In fact it can copy data from any device that the PS2 can read to any device on which the PS2 can write. One of those devices is 'host:' which links to a client program on a PC, so that the PS2 can read or write files and folders of that PC.

I need help too.
First to answer the questions posted:

1. V1 PS2
2. No Mod
3. Yes, and I have a crossover cable and uLaunch
4. Many homebrews working.

Do I need a program on the PS2 side to transfer to the PS2?

On uLaunch, is host:/ on file browser, is that the PC? Cause when I go there I don't see anything.
:(

I saw a tutorial somewhere but forgot where it is. Someone please helpme...:-pray:
Thanks

1. V1 PS2
Yikes! That's old.
But I never heard of any uLaunchELF problems for it.

2. No Mod
Not needed if you have the exploit installed, which I assume.

3. Yes, and I have a crossover cable and uLaunch
4. Many homebrews working.
Then you should be all set when it comes to hardware.

Do I need a program on the PS2 side to transfer to the PS2?
Always. The PS2 itself offers NO built-in network support.

But the only program you need on the PS2 is uLaunchELF, as it contains two different servers that allow transfers to/from a PC. One is a simple FTP server, started by the "MISC/PS2Net" command, and the other is the PS2HOST device driver, that lets you browse files/folders on the PC, as if it were a PS2 device. That server is activated simply by selecting "host:" in the LaunchELF file browser.

You also need client programs on the PC for connecting to those servers. For FTP any good FTP client should do, the recommended one being FlashFXP. The PS2HOST protocol currently has two clients you can use with full access to all features. One is RadHostClient v1.7, and the other is the PS2Client version specially patched for LaunchELF, and released in the same post as it. Other PS2Client versions will also work, but may lack various features recently added.

On uLaunch, is host:/ on file browser, is that the PC?
Yes, that's it.

Cause when I go there I don't see anything.
:(
That's normal before you start the PC-side client.

I saw a tutorial somewhere but forgot where it is. Someone please helpme...:-pray:
I don't keep track of the tutorials myself, but I'm sure you'll find some again, if you just search around a bit.
