Ello ppl,

I'm new tot this forum but i'm enjoying my slimline ps2 for a long time now (had a chubby one before but that one broke down). I thought about trying sms for my ps2 as ps2 reality sucks at playing my avi's from dvd's. I read the manual on how to transfer the elf to the memorycard. I can ping my ps2 and connect to it with an ftp program but when i try to get in the 0 folder of the memorycard I always get an error.

STATUS:> Directory listing completed.
STATUS:> Getting listing "/mc/0"...
COMMAND:> CWD /mc/0
250 CWD command successful.
STATUS:> PWD skipped. Current folder: "/mc/0".
COMMAND:> PASV
227 Entering passive mode (192,168,2,22,16,3).
COMMAND:> LIST
STATUS:> Connecting FTP data socket 192.168.2.22:4099...
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list
ERROR:> Timeout (60000 ms) occurred on receiving data from the server.

I don't understand why I can't get into the memorycard.
plz help:cry:

try active mode in your FTP client (instead of passive)
alternatively, use uLaunchELF on the PS2 to copy files. It can transfer over the network using Host (run RadHostClient 1.5 on your PC), and this setup is identical to what SMS uses.

Do you have a router/firewall??? what server in ps2 and client on PC are you using?

I have a router,no firewall. I use execftp69 (on a cd) for the ps2 and filezilla and/or cuteftp for my pc. Its strange giving the fact that I can connect and browse in the ps2 but when I doubleclick 0 in the memorycard folder it all goes wrong.

It is also possible that EXECFTPS069 has trouble listing a certain file on your memory card and is crashing. Does anything show up as corrupt data in the built-in PS2 browser? I think I experienced this once with a certain character in file names. If this is the problem, deleting the offending file should correct listing by EXECFTPS. Or try the FTP serving in uLaunchELF--it's much more stable.

Hmmm it could be some corrupted data...since there are 3 blocks on that mc that are corrupted. The problem is I can't delete them...and I don't have a second memorycard to transfer my precious savegames to :cry. Thnx for the help I will format and/or try ulaunch+RadHostClient 1.5.

i would get a second memcard if i were you... un-deletable corrupt data blocks can result in the whole MC being magically wiped if left too long... it happened to me in FFX and it was not even an FFX game that had got corrupted in the first place.

if possible, use the latest uLaunchELF instead of execftps... it is far more stable for FTP.

Problems are solved...I bought a new memorycard....made a boot disk with sms.elf and now everything is running like a charm. I think sms is much better then ps2 reallity...it plays far more smoother and the network option is easy and cool!!
