This is my first MOD installation (installing into a v12). I've done some soldering in the past, but nothing that required any amount of precision. Can anyone give me some advice on the type of wires and solder I should use? The chip hasn't arrived yet, so I'm not sure if it'll be bundled with solder tipped wires or not and or what gauge the wire will be. Just want to start off in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

the general consensus is that 24 to 20 AWG kynar wires are the best for the power and ground points, and 30 awg is best for the other points.

the ground wire should be kept at minimum length for reliability, 1 or 2 cms is good

Careful during the installation though. These ezi's are known to crush the pins outta the cd/dvd controller chip.

agreed, same with Matrix, crystal etc. The only chips that seem to be very sensitive in our experiance are the DMS3/4 chips. Se are fine with short 30 awg.

Anyone know where I could pickup a decent soldering iron? I've read various tutorials that state I should be using a 0.1mm tip, but I'm having a tough time finding one. (I'm in the USA)

P.S. I'm having trouble reading the measurements on Hakko's site. Can someone point out a model and tip number which would be good for this job.
