There is no way to put "normal" files into a PS2 HDD when it is connected directly to the PC.
Anyway, here a quick "how to" to copy files to the PS2's HDD (copied from the "How To ... ???" thread in this same forum):
How to copy movies from CDFS: (ISO/CD/DVD) to HDD using uLaunchelf:
I assume you know how to assign buttons to ELFs, so assign one to FileBrowser (I did it with R3, press analog Right). In this SubApp you will have some devices FS, select cdfs: and will show CD/DVD contents, press R1 and a menu will appear, copy desired file and browse up with Traingle, then select hdd0: (a few partitions will appear) select the partition you want to copy the movie (or any file to) press R1 again and choose PASTE this time. In 6-7 minutes you will have the 700Mb movie in HDD. Enjoy!
Note: do not abuse of this method, cause it contribute to stress your Laser lens, Use at your own risk!
You can find last uLaunchelf version here:

How to copy movies from HOST: to HDD using uLaunchelf:
To use this feature you need a PC with a NIC and PS2 Network Adapter, If you want to connect them directly, you will need a crossover UTP cable.
1-Exec uLaunchelf and select FileBrowser and in the menu select HOST: wait about 10-12 seconds and ".." will appear.
2-In PC exec from CMD: "ps2client.exe -h 192.168.0.10 listen" and will work for all files&folders that you have in ps2client directory
3-Refresh PS2 screen pressing Triangle and then enter to HOST: again (maybe you need to repeat this process) until files&folders appear
4-To copy files do it in the same way as above (Copy from cdfs: to HDD)
This method is faster than FTP, you can copy a 700Mb movie in about 18-20 minutes. Until now is the FASTEST method
PS2client & CDexplorer are attached here as Utils.rar
U might need to create a partition to put your files on, u can use D M S 's HD format tool to do it, try looking at www.d m s 3.com for it.
That's about it... but next time try searching a little bit, Mr. Worm created the "How To ... ??? " thread for some reason... ;)
