Hi there!
First post here but I have read just about every one in here which is related to usb sticks or memory cards and I spent all last night researching just that. Got frustrated with burning CD coasters so I decided to go with the Swap Magic 3.6 method of creating a SWAPMAGIC folder on my USB stick with a SWAPMAGIC.ELF executable inside equating to whatever app I wanted to run. I know there's a way of having up to four apps in there but I never bothered - at least this way, you don't have to swap any disks until your app is loaded instead of using CDs which I tend to screw up because swap magic is so fussy.
Aaaaaanyhow, rant over for now. I was actually going to dabble in ps2 programming a while back, but I am too poor to splash out on network adapters (which would be my weapon of choice). Plus I'm one of these coders who has been spoiled by perl so any coding I did do would probably be crap now.
I have this SMS application running off the usb stick (which ARMAX didn't recognise but that's another story). For some reason, I can't play mp3 with it at the moment but everything else works perfectly (I'm running 1.4 rev 8, not sure if it even supports it. To tell you the truth, even if the feature is included, I would probably never use it, and there are other apps out there already which have that ground covered). Finally a media player tht works for lots of my divx and xvid movies! PS2 Reality just didn't cut it in that respect (kept saying missing index), and the ARMAX media player needs a certain kind of cd (seeing as the stupid thing can't recognise my usb stick), and I dont want to burn disks solely for the ps2 (the pc doesn't even recognise the file system - its one of those funny hybrid ones to fool the ps2).
Congratulations on a fantastic app - I've yet to find a divx/xvid movie tht doesn't work on it with a perfect framerate! I mean there's lots of other things it coooouuuuld do but it's already the best app I've seen around at doing the primary thing it was designed for - divx/xvid movies! It plays every avi I can find!
ok.... so I just found a video thts choppy... but it is extremely high res so I wouldn't expect that to work very well anyway (it won't even run full speed on my PC)!
One major request though (well, it's not major, but it's annoying) - could you include a browser refresh option for us swappers? It's fine if there is a directory on the dvd, because when you go up a directory, it automatically refreshes. We can't just press eject like all u chippers :P.
