About DVD hang

I've tested revisions 4,5,6,7 and 8 with DVD ISO with avis, Original PS2 game DVD, DVD movies with avis, and 700megs CDs.
So after testing all possible combinations can conclude that only works ok for CDs loaded after and before SMS launching, all DVD media no matter if DVD+R or -R hangs if DVD is inserted after SMS, if it is inserted before then no problem and of course if you change DVD then is read normal.
For all cases I used Launchelf 3.41o (with disc control in OFF, otherwise there's a need of cd in tray to launch properly) , SMS.elf's in HDD and PS2 details are in signature...

...on my site I can only use official CD/DVDs, and all these combinations (disk insertion CD/DVD before/after/during SMS bootup with inLink/LaunchElf) cause no problems. With newest version it is possible to perform debug output even with IOP reset directly on TV screen. GSContext has "printf" function now which acts almost like ordinary "printf" (also with screen scrolling :)), so if you can compile SMS then you can try to modify source code (mainly "Browser.c") to trace the place of crash by inserting "printf" calls everywhere you want. Without ability to reproduce this problem on my site it's just a guessing work for me, so I can't propose any real solution :)...

I think I've tracked down your problem. Revert to uLaunchELF 3.41n. If that solves your problem, I'll leave it for you to report in the uLaunchELF sub-forum.

I've tried with older SMS revisions and same thing, Also tried using Infinity Manager instead uLaunchelf to isolate the problem but...nothing, so have to put DVD before start SMS in order to work properly...
So, it seems that this problem only happens to me so taking on mind that it is critical, I'll wait after Xmas ;) to try to solve it, with EEUG help of course ;)

I have read on www.consoleworld.org(ex ps2world.it) that v9 and v10 have a bug that without a dvd in drive some program cannot be loaded or crash(ex ps2reality, or hdloader without v9 patch). I have also read that any program need a fix for that bug for working proprerly on v9/10.
Can someone with other version test it?
Tomorrow I'll do some test. But i need to put a disk in dvd drive to launch every elf. Without (also with cd control on/off) uLaunchelf crash on loading ****.elf.

In the case of SMS, dont need this patch as other software like HDL, there is no problem with startup, only hangs when trying to read a DVD and with CD works ok...anyway test it in another console would be great ;)

Well Mr. Worm~~, I thought I had re-created your problem with 3.41o. But now, I can't get it happen with 3.41O DVD insertion is fine. Maybe it was just an unlucky error I had the first time. Do you get a SMS freeze, or does the icon simply not show up?

The icon appears, and hangs in reading directory, but after reset with dvd inserted...works fine
